1. During your consult, do you prefer to have a staff member present while the surgeon examines you?

I would have liked someone to be there that I could ask opinions of. I went by myself and wasn't really sure how to go about asking questions!

2. What about pre-surgery when your surgeon is marking you and prepping you for surgery?

Yes, definitely! That is scary, and it's good to have someone to reassure you!

3. Do you prefer a staff member present at your Post Op appointments?
I don't think I have an opinion on this one either way... I mean - maybe, for reassurance that my frankenboobs will D&F...

I would say no to all three I'm more comfortable with just me and the objective plastic surgeon there and no one else looking at me topless even my fiance I just feel like I can be more honset that way.

I'd answer no to all 3. I'd rather have the one on one and be totally open. Plus I felt a little rushed with them in there. IDK why.

My plastic surgeon's assistants were so nice and offered their advice.. I still wouldn't have minded being alone tho

Yes, I feel more comfortable.
At first I thought I would not but it is 2 people who are trained and understand each patients wellbeing.

2. What about pre-surgery when your surgeon is marking you and prepping you for surgery? Yes, that is fine same as above.

3. Do you prefer a staff member present at your Post Op appointments?
Taking the dressings off I would prefer just plastic surgeon, afterwards I would not care.

Yes, I agree. I would have liked to have seen my surgeon at my pre op also because I was still unsure about size at that point. But the nurse answered most of my questions.

1. During your consult, do you prefer to have a staff member present while the surgeon examines you? It doesn't matter to me since I truly trust my plastic surgeon

2. What about pre-surgery when your surgeon is marking you and prepping you for surgery? No, I don't think it's necessary

3. Do you prefer a staff member present at your Post Op appointments? It doesn't matter to me on this one either...looks like I'm the opposite. I completely trust my plastic surgeon and wouldn't have chosen him if I didn't feel the comfort level that I did at my consultation......Now on the other hand, the school doctor who does the yearly testing for us women, YES, I would want a female staff member in at all times.

1. During your consult, do you prefer to have a staff member present while the surgeon examines you? I really didn't care either way.

2. What about pre-surgery when your surgeon is marking you and prepping you for surgery? again, didn't care.

3. Do you prefer a staff member present at your Post Op appointments? again, didn't care. I dont care about it really...he's a dr. He's used to doing what he does, as long as his bed side manner is great, then I feel comfortable.

Wink 100% comfortable

I fully have 100% trust with my plastic surgeon so I say "no" to all 3 questions. My DH comes with me sometimes but when he doesn't, I feel completely comfortable topless in front of my plastic surgeon. I am even surprised myself how comfortable I am around him considering I had severe tuberous breasts in the begining and NEVER flaunted my breasts to anyone..not even my DH. One plastic surgeon I saw early on for a consult made me cry and told me nothing could be done and I was deformed...

I have had consults with other plastic surgeon before I found my current and some of them had an assistant/nurse in the room. After I went to the one that made me cry, I didn't want anyone else in the room..besides the plastic surgeon, me, and my DH.

I have become close to my plastic surgeon and he has become almost like a "friend" to me and my DH. We have a good time and a few good laughs every time we go. (not to mention my plastic surgeon is HOT) haha!

1. During your consult, do you prefer to have a staff member present while the surgeon examines you? I liked not having a staff member in there. It's hard enough to have 1 person look at your pathetic boobs. I did have my hubby in there with me, so that helped me feel comfortable.

2. What about pre-surgery when your surgeon is marking you and prepping you for surgery? Being alone wouldn't bother me. This was a person I was trusting in cutting me open, so I believe it wouldn't be hard to trust being alone with them when they are marking on me.

3. Do you prefer a staff member present at your Post Op appointments? No, I was just fine being alone with the doc. Again, I had my hubby with me, but if he hadn't been with me I still would have been comfortable alone.

I would definetly say no to all of those./ My surgeon was extremely personable and supportive. I trusted him right away. All plastic surgeon should have bedside manner and there should be no trust issues except for patients who would feel more comfortable with a nurse there

1. During your consult, do you prefer to have a staff member present while the surgeon examines you? No, I trusted my plastic surgeon and it might seem kinda odd actually to have someone else kinda "hanging out"

2. What about pre-surgery when your surgeon is marking you and prepping you for surgery? Not necessary, the plastic surgeon is the one doing the surgery sor they should be able to concentrate on only you and their markings and quesions you may have.

3. Do you prefer a staff member present at your Post Op appointments? I really liked the surgical nurse, so it was fun to see her at post op. She was actually the one who removed my stitches ad talked to me about post op. Then the plastic surgeon came in to check everything out...That's usually how it went at my plastic surgeon office every time I went in. Nurse talked to me first, then Doctor would come in and pick up from there. I liked this method.

Thanks ladies! Your participation is greatly appreciated!

During the consult, I might prefer a staff member in the room if my husband hadn't been with me since it was the first time meeting the surgeon.

Pre Surgery I'd say no, I would not prefer a staff member present.

Post op apts., again no. Staff member present not necessary. Unless they just wanted to come in the room see my amazing results.

I had someone present during all visits both pre-op & post-op, not that I'm uncomfortable. I think it's a good idea to protect all parties involved.

Hi girls. When I had my initial consult with my surgeon, my guy was with me. Which was really reassuring- when the surgeon had a look at me topless he asked me to go behind the curtain. He pulled the curtain around just far enough so that I wasn't on display. My bf would've been able to see his back, it was a quick look and measure and that was that. I had asked my bf he would be uncomfortable while the plastic surgeon checked me out for size? My bf said that he was okay with it. I felt comfortable because my bf was there.
I had a second consult about size with just the nurse and she was really cool about it all.
I guess I see it as when I go to a Doctor I usually go in on my own, so going to a plastic surgeon is the same as that for me.

I would have to say I would not want a staff member present unless we were getting a second opinion about something. I trust my plastic surgeon and he knows what he is doing that I would rather it be one on one without the pressure of a second person.

I would say due to malpractice and potential lawsuits yes to all 3. Not a reflection of my plastic surgeon but a sign of the times. There was a staff member present at all 3 for me.

FYI, I just had my annual GYN exam w/ a new male doctor. I was actually quite shocked that there was no nurse present during my exam! He was a very nice, funny good guy but I did feel a little weird at first. Everything was fine, but I think he should have asked the nurse or medical assistant to come in the room.

I think it depends on the doctor. I felt very comfortable with mine so I would say no to all three, but he does have an assistant that is with him for all consultations, pre-op, and post-op appointments. No one was there with him for the surgery prep. I didnt mind her being there she was very funny and made everything feel very comfortable. She also helped me pick the size because my plastic surgeon is very conservative on size and she told me to make sure I pick what I want not just what my plastic surgeon wants. So it was nice to have a second "professional" opinion there.

I really liked having a female nurse present at the time the plastic surgeon was examining me. I think I would like a nurse present at all visits. I don't know why but I feel really uncomfortable w/o the nurse present. And my nurse had already gone through the procedure and was able to answer some questions that the plastic surgeon has no first hand knowledge of. It was just nice seeing a warm female face in such an uncomfortable situation....I guess b/c I know she understands how important our breast are.
