1. During your consult, do you prefer to have a staff member present while the surgeon examines you? 2. What about pre-surgery when your surgeon is marking you and prepping you for surgery? 3. Do you prefer a staff member present at your Post Op appointments? Thanks ladies! Your participation is greatly appreciated! |

I would say no too all 3 just because I'm shy and I don't want more people present than have to be.

I had a staff member in the room for 1 and 2. It was only my husband for the markings pre-op. It didn't bother me to have someone other that the plastic surgeon there. It wouldn't have bothered me if they weren't.

1. During your consult, do you prefer to have a staff member present while the surgeon examines you? I have no preference on this. I really liked the staff members, so that helped. I imagine if I didn't, it might have made it more uncomfortable. 2. What about pre-surgery when your surgeon is marking you and prepping you for surgery? A staff member wasn't there when I was prepped... it was just me and my plastic surgeon. The staff member came by afterwards to talk and make sure I was ok and ask if I have any final ?'s. I actually liked having the full attention of both of them separately before my surgery. 3. Do you prefer a staff member present at your Post Op appointments? They do help field some questions before the plastic surgeon comes in... so it is helpful. Once my plastic surgeon comes in though, I don't particularly see a need for them. |

1. During your consult, do you prefer to have a staff member present while the surgeon examines you? I had my DH there with me, so I didn't even think about it. However, if he wasn't there I would have felt better with a female there as well as my male plastic surgeon. Definitly would NOT want a male staffer with a male plastic surgeon... 2. What about pre-surgery when your surgeon is marking you and prepping you for surgery? This could definitly be done with a female nurse in the room! My DH was here too, but I would have prefered a nurse if he wasn't. 3. Do you prefer a staff member present at your Post Op appointments? Again, yes if my DH isn't there. The only time I was topless and alone with my male plastic surgeon was once when he took my after photos... This was uncomfortable for me, I have to admit. I prefer not to be alone with any male physicians. Nothing against them, it's just my comfort level. |

I think I would have to say no to all three questions. I only had my man with me for my consults, and that was cool. But I preferred the one on one with my doc, because I got to know him a bit too. When it comes to my body i'm a bit embarrased, so I wouldn't want anyone else in the room.

my plastic surgeon always has a staff member with him. I didn't mind because I understand why they're there but I did feel a little weird during my consult because I was the only topless person in a room of 4 (I brought my boyfriend in with me).

I would say maybe to all 3 that it depends on the type of person I like to think i'm a pretty good judge of character. It was usually my plastic surgeon and the office manager. She is very nice and makes you feel comfortable, but the nurse i had yesterday she was another story. She was very short with me if i asked her a question. When i was getting ready to leave i put my shirt back on (yeah by myself she was very helpful) I had a white button down shirt i bled a tiny bit and her response was well usually people having surgery don't wear white. So for me it depends on the person!! P.S. i'm loving my results already yay!!!! |

I would have to say yes to all three. Like others said, for legal reasons, its better for the plastic surgeon. My plastic surgeon is a woman - I certainly would be comfortable with or without an assistant in the room, but I still think having someone else there is wise. Slinky |

Yes to all 3 Barbara. The only thing I would have requested for mine, not addressed here is, during pre-op. I had an extremely young looking nurse (looked about 13) doing my pre-op. I had many more questions during this time and would have preferred to also have my surgeon present should any further quest have come up. Thankfully she was able to get another nurse for me. But yes, all 3 of your quest. Yes. Smiles, Brandi

I had a staff member with my plastic surgeon on every visit, post and pre op. Would not matter if it was only my plastic surgeon> My husband was always with me to.

![]() | I say yes to the in office exams. Once you get to know your plastic surgeon and his nurse they put you at ease. The first plastic surgeon I went to did not have a nurse there for the exam and pictures he made me feel really uncomfortable. I still wish I could get my pictures back from him! At the hospital I was very uncomfortable having a strange nurse there while I was being marked. By the time I was having my surgery I was comfortable enough with my plastic surgeon and still embarrassed enough about my before breasts that I really did not want them to be seen by anyone. Sure is nice not to feel like that anymore! One thing I notice with others answers is they mention their DH or BF being there for exams. My DH was there for the consult but my plastic surgeon always asked him to leave when he examined me. He just felt it was better for the DH not to see another man's hands on his wife's breasts. Even at the hospital when he came in to mark me he told DH to step outside the curtain and "stand guard" I tend to agree with him on that policy. |

It wouldn't bother me either way. I been on several consults and all plastic surgeon's do it differently. It hasn't bothered me with others in the room or not in the room.

My response is yes to all three. I had my husband there with me as well during all three of the examples given as well, but I appreciated the female companionship! As for the post-op, it was invaluable to have a woman there, because she had a BA in the past, and was personally knowledgable. Yes! to all three.

I'd prefer to have my mom present to help me remember all the questions I've been throwing at her, but as far as a staff member goes, after the consult, if I'm moving on to booking my day, I put a great deal of trust in my doctor already and I'm not worried anymore. I wouldnt want my fiance present too much, he's sort of the jealous type and wouldnt like to see my boobs exposed to anyone but him, and my poor plastic surgeon wouldnt probably get karate chopped. He's only allowed to my post op, just cuz hes driving and he's gonna have to hear all of my healing instructions, i'm just gonna want to look at them!
