What meds were you given post op?

I am having my breast augmentation on monday and My PS prescribed Vicodin, Keflex, and a Medrol dose pack(whatever that is) I was just curious if anyone else has had to have this or just what meds you had to take? Thanks in advance

Thanks ladies! I am really debating on whether or not I want to take the medrol. It's a corticosteroid, and I just don't feel like I need it.

I had Oxycodone and Darvocet as well as an anti-nausea pill but barely took them.

i got antibiotics, panadiene forte (pain killer) and some kinda muscle relaxant? i bought a natural laxative. my anesthetist said it was a good idea to take a laxative every time i take a painkiller cos thats what would cause the blockage. its helped a bit already been to the loo on day 2!!!

The medicine in my pain pump was a local anesthetic, I still had vicodin. The pain pump helps, but you still will have muscle aches and soreness that the pain pump didn't affect at all for me. I find the pain pump rather useless, it's more of an annoyance really. You have to carry a fanny pack around. If you're getting the pain pump and don't know if you're getting pain pills, I would make sure you were getting both! IMO Good luck on your breast augmentation!!

My surgery is April 21st and my Dr. prescribed me

Valium 5mg for pain or muscle spasm
Hydrocodone for pain
Promethazine 25mg suppository for nausea
Cephalexine 500mg my antibiotic

Also I am getting a thing called an Acti Patch after surgery. Anyone know anything about this?

Congrats BTW! So excited for yoU! I was given Percocet, Antibiotic (2 X a day for 14 days), Colace (I didn't get it but I should have), E-Med (I took this an hour before surgery and it lasts for 48 hours, it is suppose to be the BEST anti-naseau pill, that is what my PS said anyway). I took the pain killers every 4 hours for the first two days...my hubby made me, glad I did though because the first 3 days are the worst. Also, just make sure you put your pills in a pill case because I could not for the life of me open my pill bottles, it was awful and I am sure a sad sight to see.....it took me over an hour one day when my hubby was at the store to get into one! So sad I will keep you in my thoughts!

I just got my prescriptions and they inclue Keflex, Zofran, Valium, and Demerol. Seems like a lot to me. Anyone ever take Demerol? I had oxycodone for my 1st 2 breast augmentation's and valium at night. I only needed to take the pain med's for 1 day and then switched to X-tra strength Tylenol. Good luck in your operation on Monday!

I would ask why he wants you to take the medrol dose pac???? I work in surgery center x 8 years and have never seen ps order that postop. It is used to decrease swelling in some post op cases (tonsils and ear-nose-throat surgeries) but strange that he ordered after breast augmentation?
