So confused, AGAIN!!!! (LONG RAMBLE!)

Hi Ladies,
I am confused, again... A good friend of mine went to have her consult with MY PS who I referred her to.... well.... we have the almost EXACT stats, same small bust size, same rib cage diameter, same weight, height, you name it... It seems he mentioned sil. to her. HE never mentioned sil. to me. He told her saline would cause rippling b/c she was so tiny, and had little tissue.. I have never once thought about sils, but now I am wondering if I should bring it up. So I guess my question is this ladies, ( as you can tell, I am so upset and torn by this..) my rib cage is 26, my weight is 108, and my height is 5'6. I have a 32aa chest size and I am hoping for a C cup.. I do not WANT RIPPLING.. I would hate to pay the money and have them look bad, and I know the chance of rippling with sils isn't as high... So, any of you have saline and rippling? I mean I know it is possible, but I am very worried about it. Maybe I just need to chill out, I mean ANYTHING is better than what I have now, but.... you know how it goes...

Thanks for the ear, sorry I wrote a book...
Jessica

Hi jessica,

How long ago did you have your consult with the PS..was it prior to silicone being approved??

If you want to consider silicone i would go speak to your PS again. I think it would be best for your small figure, but i'm no expert only he will be able to confirm that.

Please don't stress,

Rachael

I can see why you'd be upset, but I think only your PS can give you the answers you need on this one. Are you young? Even with the ban on silicone lifted, you still have to be a certain age (anyone know...it's like 20 or 22, early twenties?).

Jessica.

I have saline and I have ripples that I can feel but not see. When I look at my chest in the mirror I see (IMO) perfect breast. They are the size I wanted, they slope nicely, they have a nice width and roundness to them (I have mods) and I love them. I have ripples under both breast and along the outsides of my breast that I can feel when I take my hand and rub in those spots. At the time Silicone wasn't an option for me, the ban wasn't lifted so I couldn't get it.

When it's time for me to have a redo I will switch to Silicone but Saline isn't the end all or be all of implants. Where I've heard silicone is pretty awesome (and i cant wait to try it myself) us saline gals aren't walking around with crap on our chest (not saying you said that), we still have nice breast despite the possible ripples.

Ha! Well said, Jess!! I'd also like to say that, even though in a "feel test" the silicone "feels more real" than silicone, unless I had one silicone and one saline breast, you would not feel my saline breast and say "ewww, doesn't feel very real!"

As far as rippling, as long as it isn't visible, I ain't worried! I have a ripple-ish spot, and I keep trying to get DH to confirm, but he honestly doesn't feel it.

Hi Jessica,

The only thing that comes to my mind would be the age issue, or that your friend has some kind of a ribcage assymetry or deformity (that is probably not even visible and he didn't tell her about it) and that's why he offered the silicone to her.
But yes,if you want silicone go for it and tell him that you want it.
Good luck

I wasn't trying to be rude and I hope I didn't come across as bitchy but I have seen many references to saline looking fake, saline ripples (which silicone can too) and saline not being the "best" option, saline doesn't feel as nice, saline this and saline that. I haven't said anything and just skip right over the posts that say such but I hate that saline gets the bad rep when most of us didn't have a choice in the matter and the majority of women out there have saline especially before the ban was lifted, I hate that some people think badly of saline (or dont know any better).

Last year over 260,000 people got saline implants. From what I've read silicone will soon out number saline (in the US) and this is b/c the ban was lifted. I have nothing against silicone and cant wait to try it myself but I dont like to see saline get the bad rep that it gets, it isn't THAT bad and I happen to love the way my breast look and about 90% of the before/after pics that are out there are saline and IMO, I cant tell a difference when LOOKING at a saline vs silicone breast. A touch test may tell a different story but as far as looks, a saline implanted breast looks no different than a silicone implanted breast (IMO). My breast are soft and jiggle all over the place, so saline isn't as hard as a rock. Silicone may feel softer but that doesn't mean saline isn't soft to touch.

Gals who have the choice now can choose what they want and they're lucky.

Jody is right...it really isnt all about your stats...age, wear and tear on the exiting boobs and tissue and skin all play a part in what is best cc and material wise....if your ps has suggest sil for one and saline for you, i guess , that shows he is putting some thought into the outcome..it really isnt as simple as saying i want blah blah blah....the best thing to do is ask for a pair of boobs that suit you...sorry, but i re read all my literature the other night from my surgeon, and I think they have too much pressure of our wants...they are, after all only human and want the best results/outcome possible...my friend went to my ps and got 100cc more than me, it bummed me cos i wanted hers, but, it couldnt have happened, we are two different women with different historys on boobs...

Jess, I cant agree with you more...I cringe when i read posts about silicone being better, etc and unders/overs...and i always try to politely say that it is not fair for the girls reading these posts that their decisions/only options are put down...I got silicone overs b/c that was what I was told...and i have to be honest...its not fair to read unders are better etc...we are all so unique, and have taken the advice from a professional to get where we are today...thats why i say, silicone/saline under/over....whatever, we all reach the same goal in the end....I dont want to offend anyone, b/c I have no preference to either...i only got what i was told to get...but i do so often feel sorry for the girls that had no option as to the material used for implant...

Exactly and the same applies to HP and Mods. HP's look fake and Mods are too wide discussion. To each their own, we all have different bodies which means different implants, sizes and whatnot. I try to explain why I went with what I did and why I have the size I do and why I picked Mods but it doesn't mean that I think less of those who have different or that they made bad decisions or they are any less than myself.

We all look awesome and that's all that matters. Best advice is to go with what your PS says, he knows your breast better than anyone (well besides ourselves )

I'll put my two cents in..I have saline and I don't feel even ONE ripple ANYWHERE and I had hardly any breast tissue to begin with. I was given the choice to have silicone before they lifted the ban because I also needed a breast lift, but I felt better about going with the saline. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that just because you have saline doesn't necessarily mean you'll get ripples and vice versa just because you have silicone doesn't mean you won't get them either. And as for the feel of them, there are NO complaints in the "feel" department from me or hubby

I too am getting salines this month and the Dr did tell me I most likely will have rippling(and I'm only gettin 250s) he did say this is because of little breast tissue just like you. Now, I did really think about the sils but decided against d/t to the MRI thing and I was told by the PS that if they do rupture they don't always come out in a "lump" like it is portrayed on the manufacturer website, they can crumble and that could be an issue. I decided to forgo that risk and get saline but I do like the feel of the sils better!

in the end what I get is better than what I have and I also worry that if I had Sils my health insurance might get weird on me as insurance is so crappy as it is.

I would definitely ask your PS about and then go with your gut and if you are married I would take your husband in with you so he can hear the whole deal, mine did and he is a Physician (and I'm a nurse) and we both wanted sils before the consult and ended up with the Salines afterwards(part of me wishes there was not the MRI thing and insurance wasn't the way it was then I would get sils in a heartbeat!)

This is such and individual thing and your comfort level \
Good Luck!!!!!

Ok, ladies, first lemme say I did not mean to offend anyone one way or another. BELIEVE me, I have been dead set on salines' the WHOLE time, like my post said, I have never even for a sec. thought about getting sils due to the controversial issue surrounding them, ( again, I am not trying to insult anyone that has sils, ) but as you can tell I was just a little CONCERNED. I am over it now for 2 reasons, (thank you Rachael), Sils weren't approved in July when I had my consult and I am over the whole rippling thing. Like my previous post said, ANYTHING is better than what I have now. Again, I am sorry if my post, which wasn't by any means intended to insult anyone did. My sister just had saline's put in and I love hers and they feel great. I admire any woman and her PERSONAL decision when it comes to making herself feel better about herself, which in fact is what I am only trying to do...

Your post didn't offend me and I realize you're concerned, which is totally natural and I think we all were/are at some point. Like I said in my earlier post, I didn't want to come across as rude but I have seen numerous negative posts about saline and I held back posting anything, guess like they say, you can only hold back for so long and I didn't mean to "release" on your thread. I just wanted to make sure that it doesn't matter what you choose (if you have a choice) as long as it's something that your PS is comfortable with and you're happy!

Jessica

I 2nd what Jess said, it wasnt about your post at all...so please dont apologise, like Jess, I have been very polite in some of my posts, sitting back reading and justifying nicely why i have what i have, and feeling very sad for the other implants/placements/cc's that get slaughtered...truly I just felt that Jess made such a brave statement that I believe in too, that I had to back her....please, please, dont worry .... its sad that its ur thread that got it started x
A few months back, I read a reply to someone stating that getting under 300 isnt worth having a breast augmentation for... that upset me but I said nothing...it left me questioning whether I shouldve wasted my money on my breast augmentation cos I was only allowed 290...this forum is all about supporting each other in what we have been given, not critisizing our decisions....im as happy for the ladies with the very large implants as I am for the ladies with the smaller ones, we all share our experiences and concerns, but sadly peoples feelings aren't always considered...this is a tough ride for everyone, but should be joyous and encouraging too.....

So, please do not worry....xxxxxxxxxx

32aa, hoping for a small c
Going with 300 cc, HP's, under, areola inc. HOPEFULLY!

Hi Jess. Unbelievable how I can relate to u and ur state of confusion. I m more or less in the same dilemna except I ve got 10 days to go b4 my breast augmentation so I am aware it s too late to change now. I m also a AA cup (wider ribcage than u though 34) and would like a full C cup, so have opted for 300 cc smooth round saline and my ps advised unders considering my frame.Although my ps was more keen on sild I chose saline main reason being the safety issue and also I tend to prefer the "natural" stuff. But I am dead scared about the rippling. I would hate it. If I chose to go for saline despite my surgeon's preference it s also because I read the girls on this forum, so many of them are very happy with their saline, incl. no rippling at all, the feel of it etc. So I thought I ll take the risk.Even today I have to admit the replies to ur post overall confirmed my decision. We'll see... Anyway I hope. like me, ultimately, u make the decision most suitable to u, possibly with the help of ur ps. Good luck!

Gosh, these implant choices sure do ruffle a lot of feathers! I was basically told that I can get whatever I want...silicone, saline, high profile, etc..... I must say, it's a little overwhelming and I have gone back and forth on what's "Better" and reading everyone's posts trying to figure out what will be best for me. My PS told me to find a picture of what I want my breasts to look like and what I consider to be the perfect breastss for me. I've gone to just about every breast augmentation site, I've bought a few Playboy magazines & I've been searching the internet (I'm starting to think I have a problem, lol). He said he will go off of what I want and get me it, or as close to it as he can based off of my stats, breast tissue, etc. I kind of like his approach to it, since I have no clue as to cc's, profile and all the rest.

Boobies are great...regardless if they are silicone, saline, big or little....or even if you've been blessed with beautiful natural ones! Good luck to you all....with whatever you choose or have chosen!

Thanks Ladies,
I didn't mean to come across sounding cry-babyish, really.. I appreciate all of your wonderful advice.. Before I came across the site I was clueless, but now, WOW, I feel like the most researched woman EVER to enter a PS's office. So again, thanks for all of your replies, helping me to overcome my fears/concerns... I hope each and every one of us find the perfect breast that truly makes US happy, whether it be Saline/Silicone/HP/Mod, or whatever, afterall it's all about what makes YOU happy...

Your right.... it's allllllllllllll good.... ( No worries!)
