![]() | Ladies who work out and lift weights...
I have been reading up a lot on the whole chest exercise after implants issue. I know there's a lot of girls on here that have implants and lift weights regularly, and this topic has been an issue of mine since day one. I workout 5-6 times a week. In the past I would do full body circuts or alternate lower and upper body 3-4 times a week with weights. LOTS of push ups, pull ups, benching, and chest flys. I haven't really done a lot of chest/ shoulder work in fear that my implants will spread (the gap will widen between them) I've seen a lot of hardcore body builder's implants have that really far apart look and I personally don't prefer that on myself. Anyone have any experience with this? I really do miss this part of my workout. I love how close my implants are without a bra, its the main reason I got the size and profile I chose. Anyone have a bad experience? Thanks ladies! |

That is a great question - i'm curious to hear from other folks as well. I went to an ultimate conditioning class tonight and had to do some chest flies while laying on my back, and it feels really awful. I definitely would opt to skip them if I hadn't been in the front of the class and felt like the teacher was going to come and correct me for not doing the right exercise... I haven't heard anything about the implants separating - but I guess I'm not sure I want to risk it...

I'd like to know too. I haven't been able to do any kind of pushups (other than measly wall pushups) since I had my breast augmentation, but then again, I've had CC for a looong time and my chest is just too freakin' tight to be doing any kind of chest exercises. Hopefully, that will change after my redo.

REDO, JULY 2009: 450cc filled to 540 saline, Mentor, smooth, round, moderate plus. Crescent lift. Redo also involved capsulectomy of Grade IV CC. Thinking about getting a benelli lift and switching to silicone. ***I ONLY accept friend requests from ACTIVE Elite members. Nothing personal; I'm just concerned about my privacy.*** ![]() |

My PS advised me against doing any chest isolation exercises. He said by working those muscles and tightening them up, you could possibly create permanent flex deformity. That's why the bodybuilders you have notices, have the spread apart look. It also depends on placement of the implant. Unders are affected my chest isolation exercises, but overs, not so much. Check with your PS. They are all different in what they recommend. I work my arms, back and shoulders, but I stay away from chest presses, flys and pushups. |

I so appreciate it! This is exactly what I have heard before, and I've even seen a few pictures and heard stories of ladies that did this and had a very strange gap develop between their implants. What a shame I can't do that anymore...wish I'd thought of that. Oh well. Thank you very much for your response! | |

![]() ![]() | Here's a question for you (anyone who wants to answer!) If you had to do it again, knowing that you would NOT be able to do certain exercises...would you opt for overs? My main concern with the unders is pushups...being in the military it's not like they are OPTIONAL. I can get 100% or more on my physical fitness test in situps and the run, I'd hate to be down to barely passing because of the pushups. Thanks in advance! |

I didn't have the option because I was too small and my skin is very thin. Plus I don't prefer the way they look personally. Push ups are still easy and doable, I would just hate to toss 8 grand in the trash and ruin the way they look...

Presently I do all weight routines to my max, which includes chest workouts with weights and push-ups. I have silicone unders for 5 1/2 years and they're still where they started on day 1. I asked my ps if the reason why my one implant ruptured was due to my workouts and he said no.

I am a fitness instructor and I teach strength-training workouts that incorporate chest exercises with a barbell and push-ups. To be perfectly honest, I have lightened my weight load on the bar significantly since my breast augmentation and I do what I can to avoid push-ups. The interesting thing is that tricep dips off a bench really affect me more than anything. I can actually see my implants separate as I dip down. NOT GOOD!! So...I avoid those now. My PS did warn me and even discussed overs but unders were the better option for me long term because I did not want sagging and I am a small person and started with minimal breast tissue. If I had to do it over, I would still go with "unders". In life, the decisions we make for one thing can sacrifice another so that is the way I look at it. I had to decide what was more important to me breast augmentation or push-ups and tricep dips. I am content and know that sometimes we can't have it all.
