I need help choosing a PS!

Okay guys...I think I'm in the home stretch. I have found two PS's that I like and I'm thinking about canceling my other consults (because why spend the money if I have two I like already?) Each has good points and I'm wracking my brains trying to decide who to choose. Can you help? I'll call them Surgeon A and Surgeon B. I'll list out points that stand out about them

Surgeon A

Has 4 more years experience than Surgeon B

About 600 more expensive than surgeon B

Reportedly has a very low complication rate with form stable silicone implants (which is what I want)

Preforms 120 breast augmentation surgeries a year.

Has awesome staff. Surgeon A has someone available to clients who's job is to basically answer all your questions and talk to you on the phone. I found this very valuable. This staff member spent an hour with me on the phone a month after my consult, answering all the new questions I had. She herself had implants so she made me feel a lot better. I felt like I was being listened to and not rushed, and not just one of MANY other people wanting a breast augmentation.

Surgeon A is nice but not as personable as Surgeon B. This person was a bit more clinical and like a typical Doctor.

Surgeon B

Has 4 years less experience than surgeon A

600 cheaper than surgeon A

Also has a low complication rate

preforms 240 breast augmentation surgeries a year

AMAZING personality. Surgeon B is very upbeat and personable. Easy to talk to.

Surgeon B said I could e-mail the staff if I had any questions. I did, and while they got back to me quite quickly, they have me VERY brief answers to my questions. I felt like I needed more of their time and that they were really busy.

So guys...how on earth do you pick? Would you go with the surgeon who does less breast augmentation's in a year, but has awesome staff who will be around to support you, or do you go for the surgeon with the great personality, who does almost twice as many breast augmentation's a year, but his staff (while nice) are hard to connect with.

Thoughts?? I can't ask my boyfriend any more which one I should choose. He'll run down the road and never come back! Hehe.

Have you seen after pics? Does one stand out more than the other? Also, does surgeon B do the form stable implants? Other than that, I think being able to have your questions answered without feeling rushed is a big deal.

I think that even tho surgeon B has a better personality...it sounds like A, has more of what you want. And it's only 600 more..and to get what you want, I think that's worth it.

Also, I've had experince with super nice dotors, that make up for their techinical skill with their personality, and if there is a complication, you want someone who is willing to deal with it rather than just ignore your calls and emails.

hope that helps!

I'd go for A. It sounds like his lack of warmth is more than made up for by his staff. And I don't want my doctor to be my friend, y'know. I want him to be a brilliant surgeon, and to know I've got support from his office for when I'm worried, or if something goes wrong.

But yeah, I'd look at before and after pics. Do they both do the look you're going for?

Go for A. He has less surgeries to do so more time for his patients. That means if you have an issue right after you can get in at any time. Personally I prefer professional. And to have someone readily available to talk to is very handy.

Thanks guys! I don't really care about the $600.00. I had always planned to go with whichever surgeon was the best fit for me. I just listed it because I wanted to get all the facts out there.

Just to answer some questions - I believe both surgeons will do the form stable implant that I'm after.

I have seen the first surgeons pics, but not the second one. I think he had an album out in his waiting room but I didn't look at it. (Wasn't 100% sure what it was, and if it was for me to look at, so I didn't touch it. When I was done with my consult no one offered to show me pictures, and I was so excited I forgot to ask about them! I e-mailed his office saying I didn't get to look at pictures, and they said I could come back and look at them in the waiting room anytime.

Surgeon A had a staff member meet me in a private room after my consult to answer questions. They left me with a book full of this surgeons work and told me to take all the time I needed.

So...you guys don't think it's a big deal that one surgeon does half the amount of breast augmentation's as the other? This was the one thing I wasn't sure about.

Thanks so much for helping me with this guys!

Google both of them and look for reviews, and go to healthgrades and check all of that.

Also, I liked my first consult, the doctor was very clinical but the staff was amazing! Only to find out later after doing reviews and asking some of my surgeon friends, the PS was very shady and I was basically told to "run like h*ll" from him.

The second PS I went to, had a nice staff, nothing over the top like my first surgeon, but they were very clinical as well. He was nice and has several years of experience. I ultimately chose him.

So... you can't choose a surgeon because of their staff, the staff aren't the ones who went to med school and do surgeries. But you also can't choose based on how many a year they do... the surgeon I didn't choose does several more breast implants... which to me makes for a less personal experience.

What I'm trying to say is: look for recommendations, and google the h*ll out of both of them lol.
and compare their procedures with proper procedures...

When I compared the first PS's breast procedure with what was proper, I learned that he did not use good techniques nor did he have a board certified anasthesiologist....

just some suggestions! Good Luck!

Although surgeon b may seem more appealing because he has a good personality, I don't think that should be your deciding factor. After all, you're not trying to date the doctor just trying to get the best and safest breast augmentation possible. It sounds like surgeon A is the way to go based on his supportive staff. I LOVE my PS, but not crazy about certain members of his staff and it has been very frustrating for me. Good luck with your decision!
