Sleeping on stomach?

This is an odd thing..

When thinking about my future breast augmentation, for some reason my main concern is will I be able to sleep on my stomach after I'm healed? Odd priorities, I know. LOL! Am I going to have to learn to fall asleep on my back or side from now on? I've heard it isn't an issue, but over time would it be a problem? And for whoever does sleep on their stomach, is it comfortable?

This was a big concern for me before I got my breast augmentation. I am a side and tummy sleeper, so I was worried that I would not be able to sleep.

I have however, been able to find a way to sleep on my back quite comfortably:

-2 pillows under my head
-One under each arm
-One under my knees

I have found this to be quite comfortable, and have had no difficulty sleeping, and have not caught myself rolling over while sleeping.

I do believe however, once I am fully healed (I am only 2 days PO right now...) I will be able to sleep on my stomach again. I did not get huge implants (only 400ccs), so I believe I should be able to be a tummy and side sleeper when I am feeling 100% healed.

I would not worry too much about this when thinking about your breast augmentation. Other good ways to sleep (I find) are propped up on the couch, and on a recliner chair with a blanket. I have found these both to be good ways to nap

HTH!!

I too am a side and tummy sleeper, I found it to be difficult to sleep on my back post op, but since my boobs were so sore it was my only option lol, I went back to side and tummy as soon as i got the ok from my ps

My ps said back and side sleeping (with pillows to comfort the girls) is ok. No tummy sleeping now...I'm not sure about the future. That's a question I'll have the ask.

Thanks everyone!

I know I wont immediately be able to be a tummy sleeper. I'm was just worried about after I'm healed. It seems like it would be a lot of stress over time on the implants.

i was actually told to start stomach sleeping at 2 weeks post op. i did have to gradually ease back into it, initially supporting myself with my arms folded under me.
a plus for me was that i noticed the girls really softened up once i started the stomach sleeping. (laying on them with your body weight acts as a form of compression)

hope that helps!

I'm feeling a bit better about it now. I wont have to give up tummy sleeping! I'm not getting large implants. Probably in the mid 300 range so it shouldn't be too uncomfy. Thanks again everyone!

I've been sleeping on my stomach since a few months post op and it's just as comfortable now as it was before my b/a! Once you heal you'll be fine!

I am really hope I will be able to comfortably sleep on my stomach after my breast augmentation. If not I plan on trying to put a thick pillow under right below my boobs so that I'm lifted up but not squishing the girls... I'm not sure this will work...but if anyone tries it let me know! lol

I have had my silicone gel implants for 7.5 years now (over the muscle) and I can't sleep on my stomach at all unless I prop my arms under my boobs (really hard in the tanning bed if I try to lay on my stomach). I do have cc on one side but they have always felt that way. It feels like I am laying on something hard, like the blanket got bunched up under me and it's really uncomfortable. I can sleep on my back though, with a pillow on each side of me or if I wear an underwire bra to bed (if I don't then my implants fall into my armpits and it's a uncomfortable as well). Sleeping on my side works the best! Not sure if saline or cohesive is any different, but I did hear that these things don't happen if you go under the muscle.

I agree with that_girl. Stomach sleeping is like a form of compression. When I started sleeping on my stomach my boobs started to really soften up. It makes it hard to remember to massage. It also helped my morning boob go away.

I have been sleeping on my tummy sense about 3 weeks out. Literally as soon as I could comfortable role over without pain I would wake up on my tummy. Pretty much every night I fall asleep on my stomach. I'm an all over sleeper, so I was ok sleeping on my back for a while post breast augmentation, but there is nothing like tummy sleeping.

Ooo...That doesn't sound fun at all! You can't sleep on stomach and you have to take special precautions when back sleeping. I feel for ya. :-( I'll be getting under the muscle so it makes me feel a bit better that maybe my boobs wont end up in my armpits while sleeping.

It'll be worth it though. I'll figure something out!

I can sleep on my stomach but I don't remember when I started since I'm not a stomach sleeper.

I know at about 3 months in when I went tanning though holy crap did it feel weird!! Usually I lay on my back for 10 minutes then flip over onto the front, but whoa it felt terrible laying on my boobs the first time. Now I've gotten used to it and it's not so bad, but it definitely made me miss my little boobs.

It's something you'll get used to

I was worried about this too..as, I can only sleep well when on my stomach...but luckily - at 8 weeks postop - I can comfortably sleep on my stomach. I actually start on my side - with a pillow to hug - but then end up on my stomach unknowingly -and have slept sooooo much better since! I don't know if size makes a difference at all though ?? I am a mid/full C.

I think that is where I'll end up..mid to full C. It's comforting to know that many of the ladies have no problems with it. I can't wait till I know first hand!!
