So i have low iron deficiency, does anyone else have this? were you still able to have surgery? My rheumatologist did labs on me 2 weeks ago because he just wanted to make sure everything was okay before my surgery. But my iron is a little low. I hope this doesn't interfere with my surgery =/ |

Hey there! I'm slightly anemic too - and I had a major car accident years ago which needed a total of 14 surgeries (over a few years), and the anemia didn't affect any of them! I just needed to take an iron supplement after my surgeries. But everyone is different so just ask your doctor what he/she recommends. It should be totally fine! Good luck! |

Yes!! Iam a chronic anemic, I discussed my condition with my ps at the consultation and she was ok with it. My labs were done a few days before my surgery and of course...still anemic.Fortunately my surgery went well I healed quickly. I hope this helps

Vitron-C is a good supplement - it has 200 mg of iron plus vitamin C to help the iron absorb better. Check with your PS to see if you should take that many mg, though...

I take the Vitamin C supplement with slow release Iron (usually says Iron Fe on the bottle) so that my body doesn't absorb it all at once making me tired and lethargic.

Yes! Anemic at times here also !! Well I was very careful before my breast augmentation, I ate properly and took some Iron suplements (I even took these through my 2 pregnancies). Its capsules of 300mg of Ferrous Fumarate (equivalent to 100mg of elemental iron). Took 1 capsule a day ..after the breast augmentation also, to make sur my body was in good shape to heal properly. To absorb the iron at it's most, try to take your supplement with vitamin C rich foods (oranges, kiwis..etc..) and avoid dairy products when taking the supplement, it interferes with the absorbtion of the iron. Also, I recommend if you take iron supplement 1-2 glass of prune juice to help with possible constipation (it really does the trick) LOL!!!Good luck girl!
