Question Round vs. Teardrop shaped implants

Every woman who is thinking of getting implants has a look they would like to achieve which in my case is as Natural as I can get aka. A very gradual slope and as little of the implant showing through as I can get. A few things I'm positive on is that I want Silicone, and of course Under The Muscle Because I'm an AA cup. since I started looking up info on implants its always been about round ones and I would just like to know what I can about both types so I can pick a implant that better suites me here a bit of info about TD implants I found on a PS site.
************************************************** *******
TEAR DROP IMPLANTS
Because the breast has greater fullness toward the bottom, some plastic surgeons prefer teardrop implants. They feel that teardrop implants provide a more natural result. Other surgeons think that the teardrop shape makes no difference, because as the body heals, it forces the implant into a round shape regardless of how it started.

Because of their design, teardrop implants must be oriented with the fullest portion at the bottom of the breast. One problem with teardrop implants is that they may rotate following surgery. This results in a sideways appearing breast. To reduce the risk of rotation, teardrop implants are all textured, however risk of sideways rotation is still about 10-20%. If a teardrop implant rotates sideways or upside-down, surgery must be performed to straighten it out. Teardrop implants cost about $200 more than round implants. Because of these drawbacks, the few plastic surgeons who use teardrop implants tend to reserve them for women with extremely little or no breast tissue, as these women might otherwise appear too “round” in the upper half of their breasts. Most plastic surgeons find little cosmetic advantage in using teardrop implants, even in women with extremely little breast tissue. To avoid the “round” look in thin women, they lower the round implants until the upper half of the breast has an aesthetic shape.

ROUND IMPLANTS
Round implants have several advantages. They may rotate freely under the breast without aesthetic consequences. They may be textured or smooth. Their cost is lower. Because the contents gravitate to the lower pole of the implant when a woman stands, the lower pole will naturally become more full, thus negating the need for a teardrop implant.
************************************************** *******
Like I said I am just interested to know as much as I can about TD implants if you have them know someone who has them read something you feel could help me in any way please tell me lol I am fine with getting round ones but Id like to be able to make as well informed decision as I can, and just learning extra info wont hurt anything no matter what I choose. And I'm sure the info will help someone else as well. THANKS Ladies!!! you all are awesome

My PS told me that, because the pocket for the teardrops has to be so precise and snug (so they don't rotate), the breasts will "sit up" on your chest when lying down. I wanted mine to fall to the sides like natural breasts when I am lying down, so that counted teardrops out for me.

I am 'hollow' at the top of the breast and am looking to fill it out, thus it also ruled out teardrop implants for me

I actually had very little lower pole fullness, so my PS used teardrop and lowered my crease. I'm only a little after 2 weeks PO but so far they look really natural even though they still have some dropping to do. Before my breast augmentation I also read many posts on here from ladies saying they were happy with anatomicals.
Just my experience, good luck with your decision

I wanted a natural look and because of my anatomy, my PS recommended anatomicals. You do have to make sure your PS knows how to create the pocket so there are no issues, I am VERY happy I did not go round, as I achieved the look I wanted. I won't have much dropping but I'm still early. Check out my pics if you are interested

I have teardrop implants and I couldn't be happier!!! They do fall to the sides when laying down, not under your armpits though. They look real, they don't have that Pam Anderson grapefruit cut in half at the top rounded look. Mine looked great from day 1 and I went to a birthday party a week later wearing a tank top with no bra and not a single person in my family noticed!!! I wore padded bras and cutlets, so now when I don't wear any padding they look as big as a faked them to look. I HIGHLY recommend them if you want a natural look, they definitely achieve it!!

At my consultation my ps said he absolutly will not do them, he said he has been doing this for a very long time and no matter how good the ps is the tear drops can rotate and look horrible. HTH!!!!

My PS said the same thing he told me that it was best not to take the chance to avaid a possible second surgery right away. I also wanted "a little" upper pole fullness and tear drops wont give me that...
so I went with the round HP in my pics they look like that have that "fake" look you dont want but my most recent pics are 2 weeks old more droppin and fluffing has happend and they look pretty natural to me not quite but I had nothing to start with my PS said 6 months to see close to final results I will post more pics tonight if you want to see thm hope this helps

Do a search for form stable or cohesive gel implants. There is a Dr. in Santa Monica California that has been doing them for years with several pictures on his website, name is Dr. Steven Teitelbaum. He was the surgeon for a friend of mine that got these implants 6 yrs ago. She loves them. These implants are not yet FDA approved so you would have to enroll in a study. There are only a select number of Dr.'s allowed to implant these into pt.'s. Also I am currently reading The Best Breast 2 by Dr. Tebbets who invented the implants. Good luck to you.

anatomicals

I have a very experienced ps who often uses anatomicals. A friend of mine referred me to him and she has the teardrop shaped now for over 6 years, no problems. My ps said in his experience, they almost never rotate. I had some sagging to my breasts and wanted a natural look without the roundness. He said the fullness at the bottom with the right size will lift me enough and give a good result. I am 1 week po, and they look a little weird, but am anxious for them to D & F, hopefully I won't be disappointed.

When I was at my consult today my PS showed me that once placed under the muscle the teardrop shape gets flattened out to look like a round anyways. He wasn't against them but just pointed that out that you may not get the shape you want due to pressures against them...

I'm sure it does vary from PS to PS, but mine used to use them alot (and actually a friend of mine has them from him and loves them 4 years out) but he said the risk of it turning is not one he is willing to take. He stopped offering them at all.
They said that a mod silicone gel will drop to the point that it will look as natural as a teardrop.

It does vary so much from ps to ps... my surgeon almost always uses teardrops and he has yet one of his patients to go back with a rotated implant. I'm very happy with mine and they do fall sideways when lying down. If you do want teardrops, make sure to choose a ps who has lots of experience with them... Good Luck!
