![]() | Underwire after 2 weeks?
So, prior to my breast augmentation I was told to go bra-less until 2 weeks post op and then I could wear a sports bra only. When I went in for my 2 week appointment, I meant to ask my PS when I could start to wear a wireless bra but I forgot. I asked his assistant afterwards and she said since I have saline anatomicals, I can wear anything I want now including underwire bras. Doesn't this seem super early .. and strange? I am going to remember to ask my PS directly at my next appt but wanted to see if anyone else was cleared to wear any type of bra this early. And was it comfortable? Thanks!(Okay I admit right after that appt I ran straight to the mall and bought 2 underwire bras, but am scared to actually wear them for some reason)

One reason a lot of us can't wear underwire that early is because we have a crease incision. With a periareolar incision you don't have to worry about your scar tissue rubbing the wire. They said it's ok, I'd go for it.

I had to wear the surgical bra or sports bra 24/7 until my 2 month PO which was yesterday. I was finally given the ok to wear any bra I wanted. I guess every PS has different instructions depending on the implant and the placement.

Hi there - My PS told me that I can wear anything that does not make me uncomfortable. That said, underwire bras still start to hurt me after a couple of hours and I am just over 3 months post op. So I wear them for "special occasions" and try to wear a wireless bra most days. From what I have seen on this site, every PS has their own view and instructions, so, as always, check with your PS to be sure. |

Ask 10 different PS's this question and you may get 10 varying answers. It really depends on their philosophy and your quickness to drop. I would ask yours. For me, as you can tell from my fugly middle pic in my siggy, I KNEW my PS was right to forbid wires for 3 months. It took that long for mine to drop, and I would've been afraid that underwires would've caused my tissue to "set" at that stage. Not pretty. ![]() If your PS is not firm in his/her answer, then I would say start wearing them when you're happy with how far they've dropped/fluffed, and feel comfy in them. JMO

Every plastic surgeon is different... with that said, I was allowed to wear a bra after 2 weeks post op and everything worked out fine. I don't think you have much to worry about...

(duh)...LOL i'm now wearing a thong bra, a sports bra (the stretchy type) and a band! talk about uncomfy. but i went kinda big and i am in the process of stretching still ... ugh! |

I had my incision through my armpit. I was told not to wear underwires for 2-3 wears. I believe this has more to do with yoru pocket and healing than with the incision site - Victoria Secret makes an amazing NON WIRE bra you should get in black and nude.

Yep, it's perfectly fine. I was wearing an underwire a little over a week after my surgery and have had no issues whatsoever. I also had the areola incision..So go for it!
