Denied for Care Credit?? WTH??

I have been approved for CapitalOne Health finance but the one office I have a consultation at in March participates in Care Credit. So I thought I would apply because so far I really LOVE how friendly this office is and the communication on what to expect is excellent.

I first used my name because my hubby has all the big things in his name since he's the only one working, we have 4 children and I stay home to take care of them. I used his income amount, but all my other info, and I was denied. I have a couple credit cards in my name and don't defult on them. I honestly have no idea what my credit looks like since I'm not working I didn't really pay attention, but I pay my bills on time.

So then a few min. ago I tried in my Hubby's name, because I really like this office and if I go with them, I'm only going to have about half the cost of the surgery in cash, the rest I need to finance. And What the heck, his name was denied too!! We pay our bills on time, I dont' get it. I know he has the house and our 2 vehicles in his name and one low limit credit card and a 4 wheeler loan, but wow, is it that hard to get approved for Care Credit???

I got approved for Capital One Health, why not Care Credit??

Maybe you were denied because of your debt ratio. Sometimes, even if you pay all your debt on time the companies will look at how many active accounts you actually have and take in account all that debt as well as your regular living expenses. I think that for some companies multiple revolving accounts are a red flag, and some others just don't care. I paid off all my debt for first BA and charged the whole thing then transfered the balance later to a zero interest card. Long process, but was worth it to not pay any finance charges. If you're really wanting to go w/that particular PS all I can suggest is use a personal credit card or just try to save up the other half. Hope you can find a better way of gettin them paid for.

Here's another option, my PS offers something like a lay-away plan. You can start paying now for a procedure you plan on having, and with any luck you'll have it all paid for beforehand or a small portion to pay off just before. Anyway, couldn't hurt to ask.

I know, financing companies are so confusing, I completely understand your frustration. I got turned down by Credit Medical, but approved by 3 other companies (luckily my PS uses more than one company!) I applied in my mom's name (I'm too young to have credit yet) and she has no debt/loans etc and makes pretty decent money. They told me that she doesn't make "$50,000 a year so we don't qualify for a $2,000 loan"... GIVE ME A BREAK RIGHT? That's absolutely insane. Anyone who makes $50,000 a year on a single income probably wouldn't even need financing in the first place. Anyways sorry to hear about your problem with them, did you call one of their representitives to ask WHY they won't approve you? Good luck

I was denied by them too. Luckily I paid more then half cash and put the rest on my credit card. Good luck with finding a way to pay for your ba. i was really put off when I tried with 2 companies and was denied.

We do make over that on a single income but we have bills and 4 kids, so money just flies out the window pretty fast. I just decided to have my BA done 3 weeks ago, so I just started to save. I could save all the money and pay cash, but if I did that it would probably be into the summer before I could do it, and I really want it done before May if possible.

I may have about $2,000-$2,500 saved by April but I will need to finance the rest, I'm just so bumbed that this office isn't signed up with Capital One, but maybe if I choose to go with them, they will sign up if they want my business??

There is an office that accepts the Capital One Finance that I do have a consult at, I just want to have the option of choosing my PS myself, not by who will accept the only financing I can get.

Did you talk to a person or do it online. If you did not speak directly to a rep, you might try that, because I was approved through care credit and capitol one and I do not consider my credit that good, we have had some problems in the past. If you talk to someone maybe they can explain why. Good luck

I applied for a personal loan (not for plastic surgery, but they knew what it was for). It was a ton easier, and I got denied from all the other places (I have spotless credit but I'm 18 and haven't had a payment history built long enough). I'd try AIG personal loan, it really helped me.

Whenever you are denied credit you are entitled to view a free credit report. Request this of this of Care Credit and perhaps you can see what gives. Also remember, each time you simply APPLY for credit, this lowers your credit score for a period of three months. Credit history is interesting, and if you have never seen your report, often quite revealing. The TV commercials don't lie... there are often things on your credit history which are false for whatever reason (even small inaccruracies), and they certainly can add up, reducing your score. If you haven't already, you might want to purchase your credit history from one of the on-line sources. You can get a yearly membership and they will notify you each month of changes in your credit history, on all three reporting agencies. I believe a 3-agency report is around $19.95, and a yearly membership and credit monitoring maybe $39.95.

I do find it odd that you were given credit in once place and denied in another. Since they are similar health services, the denial might even have something to do with that.

You can also go to www.annualcreditreport.com and get your reports from each of the 3 bureaus for FREE once a year (no strings attached). It won't give you your FICO score, but you can check for inaccuracies. My guess is that Ewalina is correct and your husband's debt ratio is too high since everything is in his name. Credit score determination is quite complex and often goes against what might seem logical (for example, closing a credit card often hurts your score rather than helps). Also, if you call a rep they might be able to give you a specific reason.

SurgeryLoans.com

Hello, try surgeryloans.com. They are like a Lending Tree, but it's for plastic surgery. IF your chosen PS doesn't use this credit company then surgeryloans.com tries to obtain a relationship with them to make it happen for you. Worth a try. Their interest rates are around 16%, but if you are paying half in cash, it's not too bad. They have many different payment plans, some 6 months or 3 months with no interest and a few years financing! Good luck!

I am having the same problem.. the doctors office I want to do my surgery with participates with carecredit. I am trying to schedule my surgery next month! I have a good credit score, but after I applied to carecredit it said we cannot make an instant decision at this time, and gave me a toll free number to call. Does that mean I will be denied?

Care Credit works oddly too. I havent read through everyones posts, but call carecredit and see what they could do.
I worked in an office that deals with care credit and we would run it online and they would get denied but when we called they would be approved?

Goodluck.

financing is hard to get right now--for anything!

My surgery was just under $8000, so in the end, I got one loan for $2700, one signature loan at my bank for $3000, and paid for the balance in cash.

Hubby and I were "afraid" to take out two loans for one procedure--afraid that the two lenders would "see" it and one or both would back out, but they said it's really common right now for people to have to get multiple loans.

And we were also sent the "We can't make a decision right away" message. One place took 1.5 days to decide--I was getting really worried (I had very old ruptured silicone implants), but it all worked out in the end.

Thanks for the info on personal loans! My credit score isn't that great and I have been denied several times as well...so I am hoping I can get a personal loan to help me with at least half of the procedure...I am planning on having my procedure in december so I think I will be able to save the rest.

I was denied for Care Credit too! I don't understand why. Maybe because I just got a new car 6 months ago? My credit score is almost 800.
