Any dog-owners? What to do after BA?

Hi ladies,

I own a 5 month old puppy that needs to get outside every couple of hours, and does pull on the leash! I live by myself and while I am planning on sending her to a training camp for a while, I was wondering how many days post-op I could safely resume feeding, taking out, walking, etc. What were your experiences?

Thanks so much!

i think the only thing that will be hard at first is the leash pulling. depends how hard!
i could do pretty much everything after BA, with soreness but not crazy pain. if your pup is pretty hefty with the pulling, you might want to get a longer leash and hook it up to your door as you open it just in case your pup goes flying out!

i was opening heavy doors before the first week was over so it shouldn't be too long. you'll be pretty sore for sure...but i don't think the pain is hair raising.

hey ferox, i was looking all over your profile to find a space to write back! couldn't find one so i'll do it here:

my implants are natrelle 68MP (same as mod+) salines. 390ccs o/f to pretty much 420.

i wound up a 32 DD...very full DD at that. i do think mine are too big for me though, and if i could do it again, i'd go 300ccs.

HTH!

Ferox

To make my pup listen I tied the leash off on my leg...
try it... The dog could not pull and had to walk beside me...Worked for my boxer pup...She is very hyper..
If you need to can you hire a dog walker for 2 weeks??? I would think 2 weeks at least before you stress the boobs..

Since you live alone, I would hire a dog walker for the first week and then play it by ear. If your puppy is like most, he's probably a strong puller and you don't want any unnecessary roughness to interfere with your recovery. If you do too much too soon, you could injure yourself and it will affect your results and recovery.

Or maybe you could have someone dog sit for that week?

Good luck!!

Is there anyone who could come and help you with that... you should have someone with you for the first few days helping you out anyway it will make your life so much easier. i have a year old pit bull and he is well a bull lol i just tied him up outside and watched him so he didnt do anything he wasn't supposed to. but i think you should have someone to help you out.

Oh man I feel you. I have to carry my 28-pound dog up AND down three flights of steps (she has back problems) every time she needs to go out, but and luckily DH did it for me during my recovery. He wouldn't even let me walk the dog for 4-6 weeks.

Definitely get a dog walker or a friend/family to take care of your pup for 2 weeks or so.

FIRST BA, 2005: 350cc saline, Mentor, smooth, round, moderate, periareolar incision.

REDO, JULY 2009: 450cc filled to 540 saline, Mentor, smooth, round, moderate plus. Crescent lift. Redo also involved capsulectomy of Grade IV CC.

Will probably have a benelli lift and areola reduction sometime in early 2010.

I really dont recommend tying the leash to your leg, I work with dogs daily, and your looking at a major trip hazzard there. I would use a tie out. As far as feeding etc, you really shouldnt have any problems with those duties. What breed is your pup? If its a small pup then he/she shouldnt be able to pull very hard while on lead. Also you can consider a gentle leader or harness instead of a collar. I use a long, lightweight lead on my small pups, it gives them more room and helps eliminate the excess pulling. Good Luck!

Hey there! This was a concern of mine as well as we have a very active golden retriever. My husband was with me for the first couple of days post surgery, but after that, we found a daycare to take her to during the day while he was at work. The pulling is what I was also most nervous about. I started walking her on my own at about 1.5 weeks out, and I used a pinch collar to help keep her calm. She still lunged after squirrels, but oh well, lol! I second trying to get a dog walker if you can't find a different place for her. I was nervous more than anything, but it was fine when I did start walking with her.

That's what I was going to suggest - a pinch collar. They work great if used properly. I would get one now though to get your dog adjusted to it. They definitely help keep them from pulling.

I was lucky b/c my sister who has a St Bernard wanted to take my blk lab and boxer...(in exchange for my old bras lol) but we had them back by day 4 and it still was hard when they pulled. I think as far as feeding and such you'll be fine but look on Craigslist or newspaper for local dog walkers....it'll be a good help. My dogs are border line insane with hyperness so I was very nervous about recovery but it worked out okay.

my puppies pull like crazy and i have a leash that i can put around my waste and well it is much harder for her pull bc it is like by my butt and she tries to pull and its funny bc its harder..so i would reccommend getting one of those leashes it is black and you can latch on to make a circle thing to put around your waste.

Yes pinches are awesome! when usely properly. I have an american bulldog and it worked wonders on her. Only took a couple good snaps and after that she never left my side.

Thankfully my BF is taking off of work. I have a pekingese chihuahua mix (not the issue, she will be in bed with me) a pit bull and a pit bull mastiff mix. I just CANNOT have them jump on me. He took off the first two days, and then day 3 and 4 ill be at my parents house.

Kind of worried about my cats too, they like to cuddle very close to my chest.

My dogs are pullers so I couldn't take any chances trying to get them out by myself. My hubby was home at first, but for week two I had a dog walker come.

What was really annoying was putting down their food and water. Reaching all the way down was very uncomfortable for the first few weeks.
