breast augmentation and Birth Control Meds.

It may be a silly question, but do any of you know of, or have heard of, the affects birth control pills may have on your body after you've had breast implants?

I've never heard of anything. I'm on the depo shot & my PS said that was perfectly fine. I doubt it would cause complications since BC meds are mostly hormonal.

I'm on Yasmin, and my PS never cautioned me against it. He knew I was on BC and said I could continue taking my pills before and after surgery.

Yeah, I don't think there's any reason for them to interfere.

Though, just remember that if you're on antibiotics after your surgery... you need to use back up protection until you finish that month of pills.

I was just curious being that many birth control pills alter the breast tissue. When I was on, it took me from a large B to a full D. I'm just wondering if I begin to take them once I've had my breast augmentation, will the hormones in the BCP continue to enlarge my breast tissue and make them sag because I'm getting unders.

I told my doctor I was taking birthcontrol pills, and he too said it was fine. Take as scheduled, but he did say no aspirin or ibuprophen 2 weeks before surgery.

Just wanted to add that be warned if you actually vomit post op.....your birth control may not be absorbed if that happens...also if you happen to get diarrhoea for whatever reason..

I don't think pills affect anything before or even after. Actually, you don't suppose to eat/drink the day before surgery(after 9pm or so) anyways, so, if you take your pill in the evening, you may not be able to take it until your surgery is over. Same applies if you take it early in the morning and your surgery is in the morning - around the same time or later than the time you take pill. Also, even if you resume taking BC pills post OP, make sure to use another method for at least a month.

Ohhh, I see. Well your breast tissue will react the same as without implants. So if your breasts swell, they'll still swell but over the implant. So you'll be a lot bigger. You could have sagging so just make sure you get great support from a bra 24/7. Your muscles should keep the implant from sagging (in most cases), but natural breast tissue can always still sag over time.

So does that mean you're starting with a D and getting implants to go bigger? I wish my BCP did that to me! LOL.
