Kind of upset with my Doctor, but stuck!!

Hi ladies,

So, I guess I am just venting but I feel a little used by my doctor. I went to him last year around this time and got a Full TT with Lipo and told him I would be back in about a year for the boobies. Well, I'm back and I think he is working me a little!

I am scheduled to have a breast augmentation/BL and was originally quoted 8500.00, which I know is pretty average. BUT...I guess, with the economy in the tanker, I get his newsletter once or twice a month. I went to see him in August while my husband was still home and received my quote. He said if I did it in September he would knock off $500. I couldn't get the time off (I'm in nursing school) so I scheduled for November 25th. I get a newsletter last month saying if you schedule in November you get $500 off one procedure and if you do multiple procedure scheduling you can get as much as $1500 off.

Well, I am doing 2 procedures, a breast augmentation and BL (paying $4000 for BL) and when I did my pre-op his financing people said they can only offer me $250 off the entire sum. What would you do, I know its only like $500-1000 off the correct discount. But would you be upset that they are trying to get the full amount now after all is said and done?

Im not trying to be a cheap skate but $1000 is kind of a lot of money in the long run and I feel I am entitled to the discount. WHat would you do? I'm a little embarrassed to bring it up again!!

Oh and P.S. I love his work!!!!

i tend to be a little out spoken on somethings But I think I would talk directly to the doctor,,

And if I was stuck and they would not change or offer me anything then I too would feel a little taken advantage of.

Good Luck

I would talk to the financing people in his office and show them a copy of the newsletter and ask why you aren't getting the $500-1500 off as advertised. I don't think that would be out of line or demanding at all! They should honor what they advertise, or if there is some loophole and your procedures are not included in that, explain to you why.

I am personally very blunt and would go directly to the doctor.
I would be upset just because that is very unprofessional
and

FALSE ADVERTISING...

if I were you I would definitely say something!!!

Hi! I'd ask why I got all of these offers saying I could have this much off and now I am being offered less than half of that...if it's due to the economy, that usually means people are having less surgery so prices should be lower to bring clientele in...it's worth asking about I think. $1000 is a lot of new clothes or a couple purses!

Yes, I know you guys are right but I'm really not the person to be outspoken. But now that you all have reminded me of all the stuff I could buy with that lost money, I'm going in there with a vengeance.

$1000 is too much money to NOT say anything about it!! Thanks again

I think I would take it to the finance girl and say, quite confidently, oh no, I think you've made a mistake - see I was sent this information telling me I was intitled to $ X amount of dollars, so can you adjust my bill accordingly. No need to piss off the doctor - he's doing your surgery! Just tell her matter of factly and she can't argue with that!

ps I HATE when people advertise something and don't deliver!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your encouragement. I read the post and drove straight to the office. But sad to say, his financial manager gave me some lame a$$ excuse.

That specific newsletter was for past clients that have not been in and would like to get some extra work done. Since the newsletter was sent out the end of October and I had my consultation the end of August I don't qualify. My price was already set and done with. It as a mistake and they are trying to set the newsletter to go to the correct cliental. I get it but I just don't think it sounds very fair. Oh well, at least I tried!!

i would fight them about it. does it say anywhere in the newsletter does it say its only for clients that havent been in?

they totally gave you the work around. can you cancel? they might reconsider if they realized that you would walk away because you felt like they were cheating you. I would also contact the doctor, they need to stand by what they state or else its fault advertising

if you would consider cancelling i would consider reporting them to the BBB for bad business practices and giving them a bad review anywhere you can (ie, yahoo and Yelp)
