2nd consult and confused.

I had my second consult today with Dr Best. First consult was Dr Coley.

With all the variables of ccs, incision position, placements if I knew one thing it was I wanted silicone. We sat down with the patient cordinator Jeanelle and she explained the basics , Dr does mostly Saline (I was saying WTF at this point, who deos saline now), arm pit incision, partial unders. Talked about sizers, scars, risks etc the whole 9 yards.

Then she took me to a room, more like an examination room. Dr walked in, he is an older gentleman, made me feel very comfortable. I asked him why saline and not silicone. He said it goes under the muscle you cannot feel the difference, the rupture rate is comparable and same with rippling! He feels that silicone, contoured, textured are all gimmicks from the manufacturers to sell and the basic thing would suffice! The brand he uses if it ruptures the manufacturer sends you a replacement and give $1200 if it is within 10 years. The Dr do not charge anything for replacement of ruptured implant.

After the clothes came off, things escalate to a different level. He did not measure my BWD, he said BWD is a guideline for new doctors to select implant size, he is experienced he does not measure BWD. He said I would need a lollipop lift on my right side and left is golden. We tried sizers inside a surgical bra, let me say this was way different from my first consult. He positioned them right and it looked way better than my first experience. and we decied 505 on right and 540(HP Natrelle) on left is good. He said he would still do a underarmpit for both side along with the lollipop on my right because he did not want to cut the glands and muscle going through my areola.

Then we walked down to the reception to get the financial information. As they were getting the $$ figure I talked some more about scars and he thinks mederma and other scar treatments are a scam. The skin does its own thing with scar!
My first consult said $5100 without a lift, they hand me the paper with $ signs <insert drumroll here> a total of $8200!! Remember both are for Saline.

My take as of 1:50 PM: I think saline is good as long as it is under the muscle, I think I will take these information(saline, ccs, lollipop lift etc) and get the surgery done by Dr Coley.

Tell me what you guys think. I have pre-breast augmentation pics posted they are public.

I do think $8,200 is a lot of money for saline...even with a lift.
I think if you're second guessing about a surgeon, you're not %100 sold on him and I would keep looking. Maybe you should go to a third consult?

I would definitely NOT go with the second dr. That's just bizarre to me! It seems weird that he suggests saline and says the silicone is a gimmick. They are very obviously different substances and have different results. And with the rippling thing? My dr showed me how its pretty much impossible for silicone to ripple. I dont know what that guy is thinking! And to charge THAT MUCH FOR SALINE??? Holy cow! Its mind blowing that anyone would go to him?? If you didnt feel great about your first consult, I would suggest a 3rd. It couldn't hurt anyway. But I would also suggest stay far away from that second dr! Good luck!

Price difference-he is experienced but $3000 difference is too much

I say definitely go get another consult with a different dr. If you have your heart set on silicone (I do as well) don't settle for something you're unhappy with. Especially for that insane price! Shop around hun, and find what you're looking for!

this a big investment and you should get what YOU want and be happy with it.

I agree with the other ladies. I might think about a third consult. You want to feel 100% comfortable and sure that you and your PS are on the same page. I thought some of the things the second consult said were very strange and closed minded. Good luck with making a final decision

I thought I read somewhere that not all doctors use BWD measurements and that it's not necessarily the standard of care. Some doctors are experienced enough to eyeball. Also, I had two consults -- both from very reputable doctors in the area. The first highly recommended silicone. The other high recommended saline. Neither measured BWD. I wouldn't discount the doctor just because he recommended saline and did not measure BWD, especially since it sounds like he may know what he's doing (you said he positioned the sizers better than the other doctor and made you feel very comfortable). That said, I think it wouldn't hurt to go to other consults too since something in your gut is making you doubt that this doctor is right for you.

The second doctor sounds kinda strange. I agree-get a 3rd consult. Oh, but my PS didn't measure BWD either. He eyeballed it & fit 620cc HP saline with a lift. He's amazing.

funny thing is I'm reading a book called the best breast 2 written by two doctors well known<=really good..its kinda my before breast augmentation reading/homework lol...doctors that say saline or silicone is better is usually because they don't have much experience with the other one and is trying to detour you away from that one. same goes with type of incisions and such.

as well regarding price..if its more then 8000$ you are paying too much and if it is under 5000$ beware<=direct quote from the book.

I agree with the ladies here...3rd consult.
I went on 2 different consults in the same day and was not 100%. I had to wait about a month for my 3rd consult, but it was SO worth it. She was spot on about everything and answered everything before even asked...great price also.
It won't hurt and atleast this way you will have another comparison!

hands down, no question, 3rd Consult for sure!!! And if 3rd doesn't quite make sense, go on to 4th.... you will know in your gut the right ps when you find him/her!

I'm perfectly content with my salines, and would never switch to silcone personally, but if YOU really want silicone then that's what you should get.

I went on 5 consults, and I'm so glad I did. IMO you should go on at least 2 more, so you can get a solid consensus in your head of what's right for your body, and what price is reasonable for it. He probably charges more because he feels you're also paying for a lot of experience.

I totally think it is okay for doctors to have a different approach as to how they fit you for what size you will need/desire, but I cannot get over the $8200!!! That is too much, especially for saline! Get another opinion! I had 3. Each doctor was SO different!!! But I found the one that made me feel the most comfortable and confident. Plus, you want a doctor that is going to work with you on what YOU want... even though they know what they are doing and it is good for them to guide you... ultimately it is up to YOU because it is your body. Plus, there will be one that is also in your budget... wow... still cannot get over that quote! Yes, go to someone else, and don't lose site of what it is that you want!

The amount ($8200) Doesn't seem much, but then it all depends on the area you live in. My friends who had their implants done in New York City paid $10,000-$11,000 for saline. Even New Jersey some paid over $8,000. My doctor charges $6,900- without a lift.

what u were quoted wasnt unreasonable... i just had a doctor quote me for a breast augmentation/bl (donut lift) 8700 for saline and 9500 for silicone... what is unreasonable is that hes petty much choosing which type of implant you get... if u have your heart set on silicone then get another opinion.

Seriously, I would go on another consult too.... I almost went with the first surgeon I saw cause he was reccomended, a good price, etc..... I went on another consult just to ask some more questions cause I KNEW I didnt wanted to use the guy and turns out he was SOOOO impressive when I left I felt like I could trust him with anything!!!!! He is my PS now!!!

I agree with the others as far as shopping around... I also think that you should try a little haggling... My Doc initially said $8000 to $9500 for breast augmentation + Rhino and then when I was about to put down my deposit all of a sudden it was $11,533...well, I got them back down to the original price range. During this kind of economy thet will probably be willing to work with you if you let them know what your expectations and budget are. Good luck, and go with yur gut

Personally I would go on about 2 more consults for sure. Yeah 8 grand is extreme IMO. I dont agree at all about the BWD a PS has to have some guideline sorry but right then I would have said ok Im done thank you for your time....Take your time in this breast augmentation journey its a huge investment, the right PS will "click" promise
