Smile symmastia

Symmastia or kissing implants is pretty uncommon and it usually happens in a few days after your surgery
it happens because your surgeon released too much muscle and tissue around the center of your ribs when they inserted your sub-muscularly placed implants
If you have gone for a while and dont have it, you probable wont have this. This happens because the surgeon messed up in opperation trying to give you more cleavage (releasing muscle to push the implants closer together) or just didn't know what they were doing.
hope this helps

well if you havent had the surgery yet you can talk to your surgeon. if you go to www.plasticsurgery.org. they list surgeon credintials that you should insist upon, A good board certified surgeon who is a member of American Society of Plastic Surgeon with at least five years of plastic surgery and two years specializing in augmentation shouldn't give you symmastia. it really isn't that common, but its good your lookin into it. i would print off the list of questions that ASPS has on there site and ask your doc every one of them to make sure they are good. thats what I am going to do (thats the site i typed in above)

yes it is most common in overs, for several reasons, because the muscles push down on the implants and this is supposed to keep the implants softer, but also because the implant under the muscle doesnt come in contact with the breast tissue and glands with tend to have germs which could cause inflammation in the scar capsule around the implant (this scar tissue capsule is natural in and of itself and is the body's protective measure that forms around a foriegn object)
but inflammation is what primarily causes the scar capsule to contract and tighten around the implant making it hard (capsular contracture (CC)) i have heard several daily massages are the best thing to prevent CC. one doc said six daily for the first 6 months and two-three daily for the rest of your life! maybe your signifigant other would like to help you do that! LOL. my fiance says he sure wont mind

Another thing about symmastia is to not choose an implant that is too big for your body. But your PS should walk you thru all of this and help you make a great choice for yourself.
