![]() | dumb question
im having my breast augmentation on the 25th and i just realized that my period should be starting around that day, more or less. will this affect anything at all, of course other than PMS? Did anyone have their breast augmentation when they were on their period or start like the day after?

You should ask your PS but most are comfortable operating on menstruating women, they might just require that you wear a pad rather than a tampon! I was told that if possible I should schedule so that I don't have my periods, well I told them mine are very irregular so there's no way of telling... And they said that it doesn't matter much it's just that I'd be more comfortable not having to worry about changing a tampon with my fresh boobies to worry about too!

I got my period the morning of my breast augmentation. I used a tampon. I think because of the anesthetic, it went away for a few days then came back really light. It did make my PMS worse though. I was incredibly weepy, more than I think is normal. Good luck!

She got me a pad to wear home. It was no big deal. I wouldn't worry about it! If yours has already started on the day of surgery just tell the nurse when you arrive and they'll tell you how to handle it. You may find the surgery throws your cycle off anyway, one way or the other. | |

Mine was due on breast augmentation date but thankfully didn't start until 2 days ago. Also, I wouldn't have been able to wear a pad because I had no panties on at all

he he.. this was my BIGGEST worry and nightmare for my breast augmentation!! Cause mine was due to start a week before... it didn't start until 4 days before and mine are super super super heavy! I was so worried at the preop that they would make me reschedule. but they said it wasn;t an issue for them at all, just suggest I use a tampon, with a pad... BUT MY BIGGEST concern was my niagra falls period!!! ( say a super plau tampon every 10 minutes for 3 days... and no unfortunately I am not exxagerating.. )... anyways luckily by the day of the horrid days had passed so I was on the 'fake out' that I always have after the 3 day horrible part... then after a day it comes back more like a 'normal' period. anyways enough about my period stories and TMI! LOL Just tell them at your preop ad ask what they prefer you to do... they told me the only thing it might effect is make me more sensative ( cause some woemsn breasts are sensative during their cycle you know)..... so I would not worry about it at all ESPECIALLY if you do not have horrible ones like mine!! just make sure you change whatever you use when they have you get into the surgical gown etc so it is fresh... but at post op they will tell you what they prefer you to do... I cannopt imagine they will require youto reschedule that was my BIGGEST worry ESP when i started late cause of the nerves bs!!!!!.. ok rambling again SHUT UP NATALIE!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You should be fine. If you get it, just let them know. I wasn't even close to due for my period... and I got some spotting right after surgery. Just be prepared with pads at home (might not feel like changing a tampon post-breast augmentation). |
