![]() | Vent about measuring
Just a quick little vent... I went bra shopping again... Was having trouble at this particular department store, so I asked to be measured. The lady told me I was a 36-38 C... My rib cage is 28 1/2 inches. When SHE measured me under my arms, I saw the tape...it said 32 1/2 which goes right in line with my 28 1/2 in rib cage... and I would need a 34 band, but there are certain type bras (microfiber ones) that I can wear a 32 in. I asked if she was sure a 36 or 38 and she said I do this for a living, I am sure.So I humored her. I tried both on, the 38 was so lose that it didn't even make contact in places. The 36 was a tiny bit better, but when I walked the bra moved... I was really ticked off because...she does this for a living. She needs a new job... SO, from now on, I'll just try on every bra in the store and not ask to get measured. What is the point if it is wrong.

Maybe they just didn't have a 32-34 D-DD available so she gave you a sister size (which surprisingly didn't fit)? They do that, you know, since they do it for a living it's better to sell the product than give a right size they can't sell to you...

I didn't even ask. I measured myself at home and wala. 34dd. 36's are possible, but ride up on me, so i will put out the bucks for ones that fit right. They do fit like a glove...

![]() | Amen! When I go bra shopping and the ladies ask me what size I'm looking for, I tell them 36D. Then they almost always look at me as if I'm wrong, and when I go to the fitting room they give me the 36D I asked for, plus a 36C and sometimes even a 36B, "just in case" they say. But when I try them on, the 36B is way too small, I can sometimes get into a 36C but they're too tight on top and wires end before my boobs end under my armpits, and the 36D always fits perfectly. |

I hear ya! I asked to be measured at VS one time. She measured me out in the store with my stuffed bra on! I asked her if I could to go in a fitting room and remove my stuffed bra so she could fit me. She said there was no need to. WTF?

I've only been fitted once, and the girl was right on the spot. She told me 34D (full coverage bras) or 34DD on any other kind of bra. Went out and got them, and they fitted me perfectly! Guess I had good luck

I went to Nordstrom and the girl told me without measuring, she was right on!! I think those girls there have more experience... The girl at VS yesterday measured me, she asked and I though why not. she said if we had 32D then that would be it but instead you will need to try 34C. I got 34C and 34D's to try on...the 34C's were too small. I think being augmented makes us need bigger cups due to the roundness...I can't wait for the Le Mystere to hit Nordstrom in May...I will be right ready to buy some good bras...

Yes, I definitely think clerks will suggest an inappropriate size if they do not have your size. Measure yourself and go with that. A great site explaining how to measure is www.herroom.com. Wonderful explanations of the different kind of cup types/styles and what they do for the bod. Even a section on how to measure if you've had a breast augmentation!

That website was very helpful. I have been wearing a 34D bra from Target and it fits perfectly. My breast measurement is 9" which says a C on the chart. This summer when I have more time without kids, I'll be going to my local Nordstroms and having a bra trying on marathon day. I'll be trying on 32D/DD and up.
