Unhappy another dumb question

Has anyone ever driven themselves to their first post op or know someone who did??? I had planned for a friend to drive me to mine and now it turns out her boss wont let her off that day, that sucks! I know it's stupid to even consider it but im just curious. my ps's office is about 10 min from home and everyone works that day...looks like i might be callin a cab. so here i am now 2 weeks away and not sure how im getting to my first post op. otherwise...im getting pretty nervous and scared but excited!

I drove myself to my first post op. lol it was only 4 days after the surgery... All my rides fell through and the surgery went well my recovery was quik(from the pain part) I called and asked if I could drive myself, they said as long as I wasn't on pain meds anymore that it wasn't a problem....... I wouldn't worry about it.. when was your breast augmentation? and how soon after it is your post op??? I was shopping 3 days after at the grocery store. I did have someone drive that day and help me cause of muscle soreness.. but the next day I was doing pretty much everything I normally did.......

so if it is stupid, guess I am the stupid one LOLOLOLOL

P.S. there is no question that is dumb. If you do not know, then you do not know, it doesn't make you dumb or stupid or anything... just curious and wanting to be better educated!!!!!!!!!!! I think it is more the opposite to ask so many questions! Its very smart! I say ask as many as you can think of....

Seriouly when we bought our house here my realtor told me she never had someone ask her so many questions... but now she even admits I knopw enough I should go for my license.. I have had times I knew more then stupid lenders about refi'ing then they know!!@!!!! asking questions is SMART very SMART!!!!

Besides not asking.. there could be someone who did drive like me to their first post op and had some bad experience and you'd never know cause you didn't ask ya know??? I ask ask ask!

I drove to mine but it was 10 days after my breast augmentation and I was driving comfy at day 5.

Hi Vanessa. First of all, no question is a dumb question here. That's what this forum is for, so don't worry about that. How many days post-op is your first appt? I would see if anyone could drive you, but you can always see how you feel. You will be on pain meds still most likely and you don't want to be behind the wheel doped up on percocet!
It took me a little over a week before I attempted driving and boy was it uncomfortable. You never realize the muscles it requires to turn the steering wheel. OUCH!

My first post op was the day after my surgery. My mom came over to help me out and just give me some company, I was glad she did because I was SO sick from my pain meds I don't think I could've driven myself. I was a nice shade of green! I'd say it all depends when your appt. is and how you are feeling...you just never know...I think it's good to have a ride "just in case".

Vanessa

It really depends on how far long post-op you'll be. If you're still on pain meds, I'd suggest you NOT drive a car. I went on my 6th day and was fine driving. Just took it slow and that wasn't a problem b/c I took all back roads.

Maybe see how you feel the day of your appointment. If you're not feeling great and/or you're still on pain meds, call a cab. It shouldn't cost all that much if you're only 10 mins away.

Good luck!

I don't know know how long after your first post op appt is but if you can't find anyone to drive you why don't you play it by ear and see how you're feeling and if you're not up to driving, take a cab? If it's only 10 minutes away it won't cost too much and it'll ease your mind.

My first post op is the very next day, thurs at 11am. Im thinkin more realistically now and i know i cant drive myself the next day. i'll probably be in so much pain or nauseous. my ps prescribed vicodin, hehe. i cant drive on that, never taken it but maybe i'll be sleepy. i still dont know who's gonna take me, probably the taxi man, that sucks!

Yeah, Vanessa, I wouldn't recommend trying to drive. I had a capsulectomy back in 2001, and came home the day after surgery. My mom had gone with me and we drove my car. When we got back home, she drove to her house, then I drove home from her house to my house. BIG BIG mistake....and I only had surgery on ONE breast. I would definitely recommend finding someone else to drive you.
