Constipation!!
I was warned about the pain meds causing constipation, so I had prepared myself beforehand. I bought Dulcolex stool softener, yesterday I took 2 and today I took 1, plus I have been drinking a ton of water and I'm STILL constipated, it's making me uncomfortable and ill to my stomach. What else can I do to help things along??

I think you will be blocked up as long as you are on the strong pain meds (maybe even a day or so after you stop), this is all very normal and everyone goes through it. Just keep drinking as much water as you can... don't worry, you'll get throught it soon

Yeah its a time thing but don't force it because it will just make it worse. Try some Rasin Bran, Activa yogert is really good too it has active cultures that help regulate you :-) and it tastes good too.

You could try a suppository. Not fun but it could help.

Prunes, prune juice... it sounds gross but I would go 6 days for almost my whole last pregnancy and this was the only thing to help. I even liked the taste of the juice after a while. It's just really sweet. Isn't that just the worst feeling?!

Thanks everyone. My hubby bought me prune juice, I took one sip and put it down
I'll try again later. Just one more thing to make me uncomfortable. I know it could be worse, I'm not doing too bad so far. |

They have those orange essence prunes that actually taste pretty good. They don't have the pruney taste to them.
I know that is miserable. I was constipated for a week after my first baby. Finally going was like giving birth all over again... ugh. (TMI, sorry!!) |

watch out- that Dulcolax sneaks up on ya!!!! Just be sure youre around a bathroom! Also -try some Gatorade- or other sports drinks. Replenishing your electrolytes def helps the bowel movements!
