surgery cancelled... thanks to you ladies!

I originally had surgery scheduled for april 5th but after discovering this site became very aware of how unhappy i was with my surgeon. I initially left his office feeling helpless and disappointed. He wanted to do everything opposite of what i wanted. Coming from a dr i assumed he knew what was best, and somehow any other ps would assess me the same. So i booked my surgery and even though i was in doubt figured i would just have to learn to deal with my outcome.

BUT!! Thanks to this forum i discovered i did have a choice. That every dr has different levels of skill, and being such, that every dr is differently skilled in certain ways and techniques over others.

So i cancelled my surgery and, with some help from other ladies on the forum, booked 4 more consults.

After my first of the 4 new consults, i left my drs office SMILING. I couldn't stop! I had butterflies and was anxious and giddy and SO happy. I now know what they mean when they say "when you find the right one, you'll know." This was it!

Thanks to you ladies i didn't just settle with one drs opinions.. I found a dr who is totally able to do what i want, and who wants to make ME happy.

And an especially huge thanks to marieh, for without her i wouldn't have even met dr meger.

I've now got surgery scheduled for the 24th of this month... and with a dr i trust and absolutly love!! Thank you so much once again ladies! I will be going into this without regrets and without any doubts! And i will be coming out of this with beautiful new boobies that have the fill that i want, are placed where i want them placed, and inserted through the incision of my choice! Its amazing to me that this forum has actually changed my life

I did the exact same thing the other day. At my pre-op on Tuesday I realized my PS was doing the exact opposite of everything I wanted... He was pushing for anatomicals, I wanted rounds... He wanted me to go with 325cc (large B, maybe a small C) and I had been aiming for a D cup... It was all very upsetting because I realized that to me, a B cup wasn't worth $7800.00 and being unhappy with my results for the next several years. I have a few consultations lined up this month for a second opinion and hopefully I can find someone who isn't as conservative as he is, who'll try to get me the results I want. I was really upset the last few days thinking I was the only one who's had to "cancel" for these reasons, but your post just reassured me that it's not all rainbows & butterflies for everyone else either Congratulations, I hope everything works out perfectly!!

Caryn, I am so proud of you.
There is nothing more important than surgeon choice.
We are here to help and even if its just one person at a time at least we know our job had been done.
Congrats on setting a date with a surgeon you love!!

I swear i was thinking the same thing! I would get to where i would be like "what am i doing? I HAVE a surgery date.. I've already put my money down.. I'm being ridiculous." And convinced myself it was just pre ba jitters. But everytime i started feeling that way i would come here and read about how girls were in similiar situations, how they fixed these situations by finding new surgeons. How some girls didn't go with their gut feelings and came out with regrets and complications.

Then i read posts where girls would be confused and the best responses i ever read were "even if you already have a date scheduled.. What's the harm in going on another consultation? Its not costing you anything and its not committing to anything.. The only thing it will do is to help assure you whether you're doing the right thing or not."

This convinced me. It was the best thing I've done in a really really long time. And I'm glad you're doing the same! I'm confident that you'll find a surgeon who will work around what YOU want. You're paying for this, it is something you will live with for the rest of your life, and you should be happy with it. As long as it is within reason, your ps should not be telling you what you HAVE to do or what HE thinks you would look better with. If you want d boobies, you should have them! And you should be able to have them as round as you want!

Good luck on your new search as well. When you find the dr that will work WITH you, instead of against, you will realize you just made the best decision ever and that it is worth the extra wait!!

Yes!! I am so happy for you, YOU do have choices and I'm so glad you came here to educate yourself because one thing I have learned over the years is educating myself the best I can before seeing ANY Dr. and making an informed decision based on my findings vs. what one Dr. says.

I am so glad you found a great surgeon. I almost booked with a surgeon that left me wondering but thank goodness I didn't! I was very anxious to schedule surgery but I'm glad I went on my second consult.

Good luck and glad everyone here helped you

That is FANTABULOUS!! I'm so glad you listened to your gut and found a new PS. And someone said we ladies hadn't done our research...go figure! If you hadn't been doing your's then you wouldn't have known there were other PSs that are willing to give you what you want. YAY!!
This is great post!!

Way to be proactive! What a huge step and I'm glad you'll find much more peace with the whole process now that you are confident in a PS choice. It's not a small thing, seek until you find "the one".

Oooh, Caryn, that's wonderful!

I am proud of you for trusting your intuition and not just going along with the doc -- and so glad this forum gave you the support you needed to do that.

I feel the same way: thank goodness for the ladies here and the courage and information they have given me every step of the way!

I wish they had forums of this high quality for other areas of my life, LOL !

Good luck with your preparations and surgery!

I felt the same way after my first consult! The PS told me I didn't need anything and wasn't listening to ME. So I left very disappointed. I found another PS and loved him the moment I met him. I know when I choose to schedule my ba that he is the ONE.

We have choices and we need to make the right decision for us not what someone else thinks is best.

I am glad you found the ONE.

Caryn, I am so glad to hear that!!!! This is going to be such a great experience for you now that you are totally confident and comfortable with your PS.

The first PS I met with I really liked a lot and I scheduled with her. After some coercion from my hubby, I went on a couple other consults. I ended up loving the 2nd one the best and my BA and TT are in 13 days.

It is hard because sometimes we want to rush and have it done right away (at least I did), but really taking your time pays off in the end.

That is wonderful!! I am so happy for you. I went on 6 consults and only 2 were willing to really go with what I wanted and needed. I clicked with one and went with her. It is such a wonderful feeling to KNOW you have found the right PS. GOOD LUCK with your upcoming BA!!!
