I'm just curious how many out there was able to afford the cost up front. Unfortunatley I myself had to finance. It scares me a little bit because if I have complications I'm going to still be paying for it for the next 3 years before I can more the likely can anything resolved. Anyone else out there in the same boat as me?

I paid about $1500 cash, I earned that all on Ebay, and then financed the rest with Capital One Healthcare Finance. It was a high interest rate but if I didn't use it than I would have had to wait probably another year to save up the rest. I am a stay at home mom so we work on only my husbands income, plus my babysitting and Ebay money. We do just fine but extra money does add up slowly with 4 kids.
All my extra Ebay money will go toward this finance and will be paid off no later than our next years' income tax return because I don't want to hold on to a high interest loan. But I was thankful that the finance option was out there because I wouldn't have my surgery yet. |

I paid full in advance which is very bad for me because the PS screwed me with the brand. advice for those who haven't done your BA yet. Get a copy of your BA files in advance and review it before paying full. |

My plan was to take $2000.00 from my tax return and use that as a down payment and finance the rest.
But I wasn't able to get approved for a loan before all the fees were due. So, we just paid for it all with our tax return. It worked out better that way because we don't have any payments, and we have been stashing money away for complications should they arise. |

I paid about half in cash, and took out a loan for the sole purpose of building credit as I'm 18 and wanting to get started on that. I could have paid all cash, but I would much rather pay off a 3 year loan in a year and have built credit. More benefit to me.

I haven't had mine yet, but the PS surgeon who I had my first consult with, does a cash discount. So we'll probably do that, (if I go with him). Saves about $350 that way.

Yeah I originally paid $500 down I'm hoping that this next tax return I will actually be able to pay them off between saved up money and the return. I mostly did it to build up credit. But I have been thinking it may not have been the wisest choice. Thats why I was curious what others did. Thanks for the replies.

We were very lucky. My husband received a bonus from work just after we scheduled my consult. So, we paid for everything with cash.

I've saved about 2/3 off the cost...the rest I'm financing. I could have waited another 8 months to save the rest...but I'm damn impatient...I want it done NOW

I'm financing the whole thing through Carecredit.. I went online and applied and got approved so I called up the doc and scheduled. I dont even know the terms of my financing yet.. i.e. interest rate, # of months, payment amount, etc .. I wonder if I'll find out @ my pre-op when I pay? Anywho.. I probably wont be able to afford it and might have to get a job at Hooters right after my surgery but at least I'll have boobies!
lol j/k

We did use cash. We got about 10,000 from our tax return (just in time!)
and then we put 2,000 on a credit card which we plan to pay off in a few months. Before we knew the amount of our tax return, we were going to finance with CareCredit. |

I do not like to use credit unless I absolutly have to . (mortgage, my new cadillac, with our vendors that we get our inventory from, etc.) I prefer to pay everything up front, only because when your a business owner you have to make sure that you have those options available when you would REALLY need them. I have never considered my ba and lipo urgent... In fact a couple of years we went through the total money makeover and we have since eliminated ALL of out debt except for out mortgage and auto loans, which will be paid off next. When we bought my new ESV, we put 20k own on it, and will probably have it paid off in a year and a half. I only have one emergency credit card, and other than that we use only debit. It has a visa logo on it, and its taken everywhere regular visa is taken. Sorry off topic.. To answer your question, I paid cash. I have been saving for a very long time. I had to make sacrifices, like eating out so much, cutting back on shopping and hair/nail appts, stuff like that. I also wanted to make sure we have enough in savings that if something should go wrong that we could afford to have it corrected or whatever would need to be done. I am happy for those who are able to use credit wisely, but I have always felt it would be better to pay up front. I will also add, that when we started this program, we had probably 20 credit cards between the two of us, and they were all close to being maxed every month. At one point, my dh had a 50k credit limit with one of them... Very scary if something was to happen and we couldnt work or whatever. We ha good credit, but it could have gone down the drain with one bad decision. Now we have all that paid, no cc payments, and our credit is better than its ever been. HTH..
P.S. LOL Can you tell I am passionate about it! Its hard not to be because we no longer have that nagging stress about it. Good luck with whatever you choose. |

I don't like to put anything on credit. So I initially had to put 2500 to secure the surgeon and I paid the rest in cash at my 2nd consultation...
