Q:about ba and flu shot???

Hey ladies, i was wondering if anyone has had the flu shot administered to you near the time of your breast augmentation??? I didn't see it on my list of meds to avoid that my ps gave me. my breast augmentation's on the 25th but i kinda wanted to get a flu shot b/c i work in a hospital and am around sick people all the time. Im gonna ask my ps tomorrow if i can get it or not. LOL... im a nurse, some might think that i should know exactly whats in the flu shot, haha, but im no pharmacist!
anyways...im starting to hear people complain of having flu-like symptoms this week, im afraid to get sick before surgery.

I'm pretty sure you'll be ok to go ahead and get the shot. However, ask your PS. Let us know what they say. I don't think I have ever seen this question.

Do keep me updated on what they say, I'm curious now.

The reason I think it'll be okay is they give them to patients that are on a plethora of other drugs and it doesn't seem that theres any adverse reactions. Unless you are allergic to eggs. Then again, if they are on a multitude of drugs these are the people that would be the most effected if they got the flu.

Just be careful because I've known a lot of people who got terribly sick after their shots. Like a severe cold.

So I suggest asking your PS for advice.

so i called the office today and asked about getting the flu shot and they gave me the okay since my breast augmentation is not till the 25th. of course they asked if i had ever gotten sick after getting one and i have not (hope it stays that way). their main concern was that some people get sick after getting the shot. they said if i wanted to get the shot it should be today and if not that i should wait till after the surgery. so i got my shot this morning. i work a lot and i cant afford to get sick, also was afraid to catch something before surgery b/c my ps wont do surgery if youre sick. so i need to try and stay healthy.

Cool beans! Thanks for letting us know. I need to set an appointment to get my family in for our flu shots before they are all gone.

Thanks for the info! I hope theres not a shortage anywhere this year. I should have already gotten ours taken care of. My husband is a heart patient so I try to make sure we get the flu shot every year.
