Latisse (Lumigan) for eyelash growth?

Has anyone tried this, and if so, what have been your results?

I started using it about a week ago. I know it can take up to 3 months to see the full results, but I was just wondering if I might see results sooner.

Also, I was NOT willing to pay $120 a month for it. I read on essential day spa dot com that many of the ladies on there purchase the generic (Lumigan) from an online pharmacy in India, so I purchased it from there as well. It was only $12 for the same amount, but you pay $25 flat s/h regardless of the shipment. So I purchased 3 Lumigan and 4 Retin A. I should be set for a while.

Will keep you posted on my results!

** Disclaimer: I am not endorsing this, and certainly understand that it may have harmful results in those not first seen by a doctor. Please don't bash me for posting. Latisse is patented in the US by Alergan and generics are not yet approved. The drug is Lumigan, which was used to treat glaucoma, was found to also increase the length, thickness, and color of many of the users. As a result, Alergan received FDA approval for eyelash treatment. You can also ask your doctor to prescribe Lumigan instead of Latisse, I believe it cost around $40 in the US. Or, if you don't have a prescription, you can purchase it overseas. The side effects include redness and itchness where applied, darkening of the iris in those with light brown eyes, and potentially blindness. However, these have been reported in those using it as eyedrops for the treatment of glaucoma, and not yet those using it only along their lash line. **

Just listening to the commercial and hearing that it can cause permanent darkening of the color of your iris among other things was enough to make me not even want to consider trying it. Unless you have a medical problem that caused thinning of your eyelashes why take chances with something as delicate as your eyes? And now you are talking about getting drugs from a pharmacy in India? And who knows what controls are enforced there. I know our USofA is far from perfect but I feel much better trusting my baby blues with drugs approved by the FDA the good old USA!

The darkening of the irises was experienced in those taking it as drops directly in the eye, every day, over a long period of time. For eyelash benefits, it's only applied at the lash line, so little/no amount enters the eye.

I understand your concern. I am monitoring my eyes daily to ensure I do not see any changes, and having my husband also double check. And I understand that many people would not feel comfortable purchasing from overseas pharmacy, but I do trust the ladies at EDS (I post there as well) and have seen their results from using Lumigan.

Latisse is certainly not for everyone, nor is using overseas pharmacies.

Easy and faster fix = Eyelash extensions, $100.00 for both eyes and you just get them filled every few weeks as your natural lashes shed. Although, I don't have any, they look fabulous on other people.

I use one called MD factor same purpose and it works I'm almost done with the first bottle and i notice a bid difference. It is expensive but definately does what it claims to do. I notice they are longer but not necessarily fuller. I hope that helps.

An alternative thats a bit less pricey and has some good reviews is Lilash(dot)com. It's $139.95 for a 5month supply. Just thought you might like to look into it.

I will buy Latisse, now I use Revitalash.

I guess Alergan has the patent for the "good stuff" in Latisse that makes the lashes longer/stronger. Revitalash was using it, but I guess it can no longer contain the key ingredient b/c Alergan has the patent. Anyway, I use Revitalash and have been using it for probably 8 or 9 months. I can definitely tell a difference. The tube was a little over $100, but it has lasted all this time! I will buy Latisse when I run out. However, I see on the website that it comes in single-application packaging. This sucks because then it can only last as long as the # of applications as opposed to how much you use. So, that's a bummer b/c I definitely can't be buying a new tube every month.

Also, when I started using it, I started to have some eye issues (blurred vision, red eyes). So, I started using less and only once a day, and the problems went away.

Wow thanks for the info. I ordered almost the same thing - 3 lumigan and 5 retin-a. I've always had thin/short lashes and I hope it works! I know all of the dangers also, so don't worry that I just read your post and jumped on it. I've really been wanting to try this stuff but there's no way I was going to pay $120 a month!

I have it, I think we ordered from the same "source" lol...

It does work, Im on my 12th week and there's definately a difference, however I will warn you, after a while it DOES darken the skin around your eyes where you apply it... or at least mine, so be careful and watch for that! It doesnt bother me though, I just dont have to put eyeliner on anymore lol but yea thats the only bad part. If it gets darker I will probably discontinue, but for now its not bad enough to stop using it. The benefits are much better

I love this stuff. I used to use the old revitalash. This is the closest I can find to that. It works. I know it's pricey but one thing lasted 3 months. Just save some brushes. I just bought me second tube and people are always talking about my lashes.

I used to do extensions but they were pricey and you had to be careful not to rub your eyes of sleep on them. I've been using Latisse for about 3 mos with two bottles used. I have about a third left of my second bottle. I only use one applicator for both eyes. The applicators are a rille abrasive so my ps's assistant suggested using an eyeliner brush instead. I have noticed a dramatic difference, but not quite what I had with extensions. It is worth it IMO.

Instead of the brushes that come with Latisse, I use a clean eyeliner brush or a tightly wrapped q-tip. The lumigan doesn't come with any applicator, since it was intended to be used as an eyedrop. So I just use fresh q-tip or brush to apply.

My sister uses the name brand one and her eyelashes have become insanely long in just 6 weeks. But if you stop use they will go back to normal length. So this is an upkeep kind of thing...but it really does work...I've seen it myself.
