| Large Breast Implants This forum will be for discussing implants that are 700cc or larger. Although 700cc may not seem large to some, they are, generally, considered a larger size. |

The Mentor rep was at the doctor's office during my pre-op and I spoke with him. They actually do have the molds and stuff, to make gigantic implants. But they require FDA approval and the accountants would want to know of a certain amount of demand before spending the $$ to get the approval done (costs several hundred thousand). They don't 'think' the demand is there - though I'm sure there is demand for at-least 1500cc silicone implants. Think of all the large women out there (as in 'overweight') with very large natural breasts, who've had to have a mastectomy? THEIR options are very limited, and my overfilled saline implants - while a look that I like on my body - might not be what they want on there bodies. Especially when it is just one breast and the other is still fully natural. I know I'm sounding-off, but government sometimes makes me very angry!

The doctor told me that he observed a sales rep take a Mentor Spectrum expandable implant rated for 325cc's, and steadily filled it to over 3 liters! That's nearly 10 times it's rating! It was only at THAT point, that it burst. What a mess 3 liters of saline made, he said. He himself has regularly filled implants to 3 times their rating, for larger (overweight) women for whom an implant was needed due to mastectomy, that would match their other natural breast. Sadly, it doesn't come close to 'matching' the appearance of the natural breast and usually involved a lift on the other breast.

I'm a trainer though this has been a rough week. My doctor wanted me right back into a regular routine though I'm only doing legs at this point. These implants are just that - implants. Once the desired size is achieved, the fill tubes and ports are removed, and they seal-up and become regular implants.

No, 2000 is not as big as it sounds and it all depends on it's 'packaging' (what you choose to wear). As for listening to the 'suggestions' of others who demand that you conform to their own mental limitations... I've never cared for the fashions of the Jones'

oh ok cool i didn't know if you had to go thru anything extra or not w/yours. and i know what you mean about FDA's notorious excuse of always saying that the 'demand isn't there'..... for example there are medcines out there that can literally save people's lives and yet the FDA just keeps on using that same excuse - really pisses me off.keep us posted on your recovery! (and i bet you're happy to get back into your workouts, even if it's just doing the legs for now )

This is very intersesting. This is an issue that I face. I am a (very) big girl with breasts that are small(in proportion to my body). One of the problems I face in my region of the contry is finding a ps(prferably a MD also) who is skilled with very large implants in plus size women. I would like to go larger somewhere around 950-1000cc HP to get me to a DD on my frame.

![]() | I'm not so sure about that... I think it varies by state, but I don't know, that all people who perform plastic surgery, are MD's. I (for one) do NOT hold "Board-Certified" to any degree of importance. I've seen more pompous jerk doctors and HORRIBLE boob-jobs, done by doctor's with a jillion "Board-Certified" plaques all over the place. It's like some fraternity, and I don't buy into it, at-all. MOST IMPORTANT TO ME - how does his (her) finished work look? Look for alot of images. Also, check your state's complaint list on him (her). Occasional problems do happen - but you're looking for the instance of alot of complaints. FYI, my (current) doctor is terrific, and has no personal 'issue' with doing the largest sizes. He is younger and has only been a practicing plastic surgeon for 4 or 5 years. But his technique is great and his work (which I've seen plenty of) speaks for itself. |

Something 'popped' yesterday and this was a very good thing. Had alot of tissue/muscle pain on my side and then just Boom - it was gone. Must have been some muscle or ligament or something but now everything is feeling more normal. Now I'm really starting to feel like myself and so much better. I'm very grateful. have a great day, ~c |

Glad your feeling better. I'm sure if you felt that pop something probably loosened and now those implants are a little less choked. I hope you continue to recover well. I wish mine would pop or something and drop some. HEHE

I am so glad your recovery is going well! I had the 'pop' feeling a week ago. I have overs so it must have been some fat/scar tissue? I think you have an amazing look! I'm so jealous. Can you believe you have over 25000 views on this thread! WOW!

Awwww thanks so much!! I'm really flattered to hear that I was inspirational in the big boob crusade !I'm really sorry you're having such a tough recovery. I read your post down below and that popping noise that you heard sounds painful to me....but if it made your boobs feel better though, then that's awesome!! I can't wait to hear how everything goes for you. Take care and heal up ![]() Quote:
