Has anyone heard of dense breast tissue?

I got the results of my mammogram and it's says everything is normal, but that I have dense breast tissue... I know my SO says I have a dense head, but I think that's different. Will having dense breast tissue be a problem with getting an augmentation or really large augmentation?

It's normal in younger women. nothing to worry about. You'll just need ultrasounds in addition to your mammogramms, until the dense gland turns into more fatty tissue when you get older

LOL, not just younger woman- I'm 58 and have dense breast tissue. I have to have mammograms twice a year which is fine with me. It's very common to have dense breast tissue.

Oh, thanks SOOO much crazytwins and Linaki! My radiologist only sent me a one page letter with no explanation of what that meant... They were having trouble loading mine onto the tray, so I wasn't sure if that's what they meant. Thanks again, Hons

Does it hurt more to have a mammo with implants?

No, in fact it was actually less painful than before. They will always ask you if you have implants and they move it out of the way before they put the breast in the machine. They were very gentle with me. I was pleasantly surprised.

I have dense breast tissue. The first time I had a mammo & the tech came & told me I had to come back in & do an ultra sound, I was freaking out. Turned out, I just had dense breast tissue.

My PS had me have a mammo before my BA, & I was told by the tech, that having implants doesn't make it any more difficult to read, than not. Not sure if that's a matter of opinion, or not...Lol. When I told my gyno, she said, no worries, it actually made it easier to feel for lumps when the implant is under the muscle, since your real breast tissue will be pushed forward. Idk if most doc's feel the same, or not.
