Botox Lasted Two Months What now?

I has Botix done in my forhead and it lasted two months. I had a total of 32 units, 12 in the Glabella and the rest in the horizontal lines. The glabella is fine. I want my lines across to last longer. What should I make sure the injector does next time to get it to hold longer? Thanks They also said I had to wait until January to do it again is this accurate?

I don't know and hopefully someone can give you an answer. I tried it once with 60 units and had the same results - it wore off within two months and unless someone can tell me that it gets better over time - I would not pay for that again. I'll be watching this thread too!

Ladies, in my experience for the past 3 year, i get Botox regularly and it lasts between 8-12 weeks. The average is about 10 weeks. They say that it has a cumulative effect and that you should not need the same number of units to get the sane results in the future, but that you will use less units over time. However, I have not found this to be true. I've used the same number of units with the same results fir 3 years. Sometimes I try to hold out and go longer in between but usually by week 10 I see some crows feet and immediately schedule another Botox appt. Haha.

It's expensive for it to not last longer. It stinks! But, it is a miracle treatment! I love Botox!

I get botox all the time, (i'm lucky I work for a Dr so mates rates) and it lasts 3/4 mths, sometimes less sometimes more, generally the more I get it done and particularly if I get it done before its really bad it tends to last better, also botox that isnt as fresh (just opened) doesnt seem to last as good either. Also depending on where on your face some places seem to wear off quicker i dont know why.. annoying i know. I've been getting botox for 8 yrs and love it!!

For some people with faster metabolisms they can burn through Botox pretty fast. I'm not entirely sure why that happens but I see it in my runners all the time. All my clients that are marathon runners, triathletes, etc all fly through Botox.

It is correct that if you make sure you're immobilized with your first injection and then go back for additional before you regain full movement you're likely to have Botox last longer than if you regain full movement in those muscles. For some, no matter what you do, it lasts 8-10 weeks.

If you had 20 units in the glabella the first time and then 12 the second, you're not going to get the longevity you need. Continue with the same doses. In some, though not everyone, you can decrease the dose over time, though often over many years. It's all about getting those muscles to atrophy (weaken) due to immobility from the Botox.

Try Dysport. It does last longer on me. Botox averages about 10 weeks on me (I've been getting it for 5 years) but Dysport lasts me a full 3+ months.

HTH.

Thanks! I think I do have a high metabolism and work out regularly so that must be contributing to it wearing off faster. I love it though. I've never gotten full immobility on the horizontal lines. I've been able to move my forehead after my treatment. But I think I may try dyesport in the horizontal lines in the future if it'll last longer.

PaigeAmanda,
I have gotten Botox in my forehead and crows feet approximately 2 times. My PS said that it should last 3 months. I went 4 months this last time and definitely was seeing some lines in my forehead. I will be getting it every 3 months from now on. I LOVE it, it erases 10 years off my face and is an easy temporary fix for me. It costs me $500 each time and I think I get 50 units. It's definitely pricey but so worth it in my opinion.

Great question.....I have found that Botox and/or Dysport lasts me only 8 weeks...I'm lucky if I get even 10 weeks. The last time I had Dysport injected into my frontalis and glabella I got only 8 weeks and that was with 75 units! It does get pricey....I've been doing this for 15 months now and I wish it lasted longer. I do not want the frozen forehead look of Nicole Kidman, but I'd love to have less expression

botox

I think I may ask about dyesport this next time. I am job searching and haven't gotten one yet so am so wanting to go get my forhead done. I agree it takes years off of my face lol. I am a filler and botox girl for sure now. I love them. So gotta find a job. If anyone has ideas on how to get one let me know. I have put out so many resume's and has a few interviews but nothing.

I had my first Botox treatment just a couple of weeks ago. It seemed like it took just over a week to take full effect so I hope it doesn't putter out by 8 weeks. Dr J did warn me that I'd need to keep up with my appointments to get it to last as long as possible each time.

Of all of the age defying treatments you have to choose, botox is said to have the shortest life span... Thus it is the cheapest option, i have chosen to try it because i am a bit nervous of the results it will bring! I intend to use it as a trial to see if i would like to use a longer lasting option such as Restalyne... To those of you who use botox continuously is there a reason that you dont try something that lasts longer? Do you think your results with Botox are better than what you could get using an alternative?

I may be wrong but it is my understanding that they aren't for the same things. Botox and dysport I think that's what it is called) are for dynamic wrinkles and they paralyze your muscles and the other fillers plump up the skin to fill in the wrinkles that are there when your face isn't moving.

I have an a ppt Friday to do both, but I think I may just do one or the other. I don't know what I want more though. My forehead/crows feet or my jowls. Not sure what needs it worse, as they both need something....STAT!

I would go somewhere else. They told u it was 32 units. When u get botox from the company it is an empty bottle with a small amount of residue at the bottom. Then the nurse or doctor had to reconstitute it with bacteristatic sodium chloride. At my my work we use 3ccs. So for us 100 units is 3ccs
So some places reconstitute with more fluid so it looks like u r getting a large amount of botox and they tell u it's a lot of units in reality they might be putting a lot less just more saline so it looks like more. The only person who know is the person who mixed it.
If urs o only lasted 2 months I would try some where else and see if that is the case. I would go to a university office like mine is derm at Ucsf. We r mandated by the state and it is very strict on us following the rules so is u go to a university u will get exactly what u pay for.
Or just find an and ask how much they reconstitute there Botox with and see what they say. Lol you
Will probably shock them.
Alot of medi spas sell Botox for cheep and that is y because they are actually ripping u off by telling u u r getting an amount of units bur u are actually getting less so they save money.
Botox is great and should last longer than 2 months for 98% of the world.
Good luck

Only alternative to Botox is dysport and it is basically the same thing just a diffrent company with a little bit diffrent molecular structure. I have tried them both and use it on patients and it is the same.

Thanks, i never understood that! So when i get my botox done does that mean that my smile lines wont go away they just wont get any worse while the botox is in effect??? I wonder if i need to do both also?!?

Well miss lady, you just blew the lid off on botox! I am definitely going to ask them how much they reconstitute! is 3cc standard for a bottle? I honestly would be a bit irritated if it only lasted for 2 months!!! I figure when i am 50-55 i will get a face lift but that would make me want it by 35 :/ Droopy skin on the face runs in my family as far as women and i refuse to ly down and accept it

There are many ways to reconstitute the Botox or Dysport. The amount of saline used determines the dispersion of the product. With Botox I typically use the recommended 2.5cc of saline as Allergan suggests. In a 1cc syringe each 1/10th of a cc is 4 units. I've also done a 1cc reconstitution and have used a 30unit syringe with that. Its all in knowing how much botox is in what amount of fliud. The more fluid (at the correct dose) the more dispersion of the product. Sames goes for Dysport.

For some a more concentrated injection may help decrease the movement ever so slightly longer. I've not found this to be true on me. The main advantage with using less saline is you can inject much higher doses in a muscle and not have to worry as much with how far the dispersion is going to be (thus avoiding adverse events like a droopy eyelids, etc).

For most I see Botox lasting about 10 weeks. Some are lucky enough to have it last the full 3-4 months but I rarely see that. In some the Dysport lasts a little longer. You just have to try them both and see which works better for you.
