Canadians from Toronto area??

I am wondering if there are any Canadians from the GTA on this site.. I have booked a consult with Dr. Lista and I am wondering if there is anyone who can tell me what to expect at the consultation. I called to ask if they have sizers that we can try on to help choose the size and the secretary said that they did not..Will it be difficult to choose a size without trying them on first?
Does anyone else have a surgeon that they can recommend?
THanks

I'm not from Toronto, I'm from Buffalo, NY but I'm anxious to see what others say about surgeons in this area. I had my breast augmentation done may 2007 by a doctor around here and not happy at all with the results, so I'm thinking about going up there to find a surgeon. I also heard great things about Dr. Lista and wanted to see him for a consult for a redo. How long did it take before you were able to see him from when you called? Thanks!!

Im from Toronto and my PS is Dr. Wayne Carman. I know about Dr. Lista and he is known to be the best in the area. I was referred to Dr. Carman by a friend and when I met him, I knew he was the surgeon I wanted. He also specializes in the transaxillary incision which is also what I wanted. I didnt have my breast augmentation yet so I cant really say anything about best results, but I have seen his work on other women and they look great. Great to see another Canadian!!

It didn't take long at all .. They had openings the following week but I can't get the time off work. I am going in a couple of weeks. Sorry to hear you're not happy with the results from your surgery.

That's great. You must be so excited. Is he in Toronto? I only have one consultation booked (with Dr. Lista) but I am wondering if I should book another one. I've heard that Dr. Lista doesn't have sizers to try on.. so I am a bit concerned about that. What size and type are you getting?

I had my surgery with Dr. Behnaz Yazdanfar (female surgeon) at the Toronto Cosmetic Clinic in North York and everyone there was great, very supportive and made me feel secure and comfortable.
I met with a nurse at first for initial consultation and we discussed size, placement of the breast, and i tried on some sizes to see how the implants would look, she also answered any questions i had.
And then when i was ready to set up my date of surgery, they also set an appt. to meet with another nurse and Dr. Yaz.
And we talked about the surgery, things to do before surgery, again more in depth about size, placement, type of implant, what i want to look like, any questions that i had etc...

I had seen other PS and i always felt rushed out of the office and looking back on it now im glad i didnt go with them because based on some of thier suggestions, i would have regretted it.

I was scared on the day of my surgery and the nurse beside me was so nice, she would pat my head, say im doing great, dont worry as they where putting me "under" and when i woke up she was there again and just made me feel secure and comfortable.

I would recommend checking out thier website and booking a consult.
416-SURGERY

Good luck with your search.

yes he's in to - here's a link to his website if you'd like to check it out. i'd had one other consult at the cosemtic surgery hospital before dr edelstein and also had a 3rd booked to see dr rice (also t.o).
i think i'm locked now on round cohesive gel (gummies), hp, 500cc, unders, crease incision. i have to say i never thought i'd go over 375cc when i started this process but was shocked when i tried the sizers on to find that the ones that looked best were actually 500 - i'm not going for the really large look so i really hope this all turns out ok.
how about you - any thoughts on what you'd like to get?

I just checked out his before and after pictures and they look great.. I am interested in the cohesive gel unders too. I am not sure what size. I am a 34 A now and would like to be a C maybe just a small C. I don't know how many cc's that would be.. I 've heard that Dr. Lista doesn't have sizers so hopefully he can give me some idea how much I would need. Did both surgeons recommend the same style and size?

no - actually that is where it started to get really challenging. the 1st consult they brought in a bunch of sizers and had me select (not really much input from them on that). he did suggest sil (not gummies), overs (not unders), mod profile, but these may have been based on the fact that i was gravitating towards the 375cc- 400cc then. there was nothing wrong with the experience i had there (very pleasant and spent a great deal of time with you) they just didn't seem to have an opinion one way or the other on many of the decisions (they did try to "up sell" other procedures which was a bit of a turn off though).
i just felt very comfortable and that it was "right" when i met dr edelstein (gut intinct i guess). when i had originally called in july he wasn't taking consult appts before nov but he had such a great reputation that i decided to book the first available and be put on a cancellation list - lucky me, i got an earlier appt and will be having surgery on wednesday (if this silly cold i picked up thursday doesn't ruin my plans - "she says fingers crossed"

hope this helps!!

Dr. Yaz was actually the first PS I went to for a consultation. I had a very great experience there and was very satisfied with all the information Lori had and how she answered all my questions. BUT after i've researched about Dr. Yaz, I've heard alot of bad things about her and some of her patients had very bad experiences. I didnt want to take that risk with her, but it seems like you've had a really good experience. Are you satisfied with your results?

yeah im very satisfied, i went in due to breast asymatry and shape, and she spent a lot of time recommending sizing and placement of the breast. She showed me a before pic of a woman who had almost the same breasts as me and what she looked like after. So thats how i based my decision, no other doctors had before pics of women with my similar condition. And some wanted to do some crazy stuff, and some had suggested sizes that i now realize if i had gone with them i would have not been happy at all. I also went to doctors that friends had gone to and i didnt like them.

My breasts are healing nice and the asymetry and tubular shape is gone.
I think it just matters on where you feel most confortable, because i had gone to many doctors in Toronto and Edmonton and felt most comfortable with her and just placed my trust in her. When i went in I didnt have an idea on sizes, i just knew i wanted to be a C and nothing more, so i really had to trust her to make the decision to choose the correct implant.

I think in the end its up to you, there are many doctors who have done good work and bad work. Sometimes it depends on if the patient is happy with what they get or thier own expectations.
And also follow the post op instructions, ive met girls who didnt and then complained, this was back in Edmonton.
I knew some ppl who got implants but didnt follow the pre and post op procedures, i think that can cause problems. If your going to spend all that money may as well make sure your following the instructions. So i followed everything, i even wore the white binding for 7 days, day and night just to help with swelling and healing. no fish or alcohol for 2 weeks before surgery and after, took my vitamin E etc...and everything else i was told to do.

As long as you clearly communicate what you want and choose a doctor you feel most comfortable with, i think you will be fine.

~ Take Care

I hear Dr. Lista is very rude and doesn't listen to you.
My friend went to see him and he spoke to her for 5 minutes. He also suggested Saline implants when she wanted cohesive gels.

My Doctor is Mitchell Brown. He's done two of my friends and appears on T.V. and many people say good things about him. My breast augmentation is November 17th.

Using 410 cohesive gels

Thanks for all the info girls. I think I will have to look into Dr. Carman because I think transaxillary incision is the way to go for me.

I had my surgery with Dr. Yaz, and had ok experience with the people, they were friendly and mostly helpful...I developed capsules in both breasts...twice....and since have found out that she is NOT a plastic Surgeon.
She is a family Doctor, and has no specialties.
I have gotten very nervous about some of the things she has suggested to repair my capsules, and I am seeking another Surgeon. ( I was unaware that you could practice cosmetic Surgery without being a cosmetic Surgoen)
I recomend making sure your PS is certified by the board.
I am really scared now, and I'm not sure what step to take from here.
I hope all is well with your surgery

hi...thank you he is the one that I actually am looking at to get this fixed.
I just hope he is willing to do it....I'm not sure how that works with a different doctor performing the original surgery
