After Tummy Tuck drain leakage...

So my TT with musc repair and flank lipo is Thursday. ..yea!
I was wondering this. I will be staying in a hotel for 2 nights directly after surgery, and was
Wondering if there will be an issue of my drains leaking all over the hotel bed!?

If anyone else went through the hotel experience after surgery, please advise me on this..
Thanks ladies! I don't want a mess and a hotel bill for stained sheets!

With all the compression and gauze around it (they give you some to take home too) there should be NO leakage, it'll all be on the gauze and still isn't very much, it's just drops! i don't recall any leakage besides that, unless you don't close the drains after stripping them, lol then you might have a little spillage! But if you're worried, just sleep on a towel under your midsection!

Good luck! Excited for you! I did not have any leaking from TT drainage but I did from arm lipo insicions area (they warned me that was normal to drain out naturally. So I think you'll be ok, but you can put a towel under you if you want.

Hi,

I had two drains after my TT. They ran from my pubic area and had a rubber bulb on the end. The tubes had two stitches each to hold them in place. The bulbs were safety pinned to my compression garment. The bulbs created a suction. When fluid collected, I emptied the bulbs into little medicine cups and recorded the amount of fluid. My PS said the drains could come out when I had less than 25cc total for a 24 hour period. For me that meant 9 days post op. Had surgery 7/1 and drains came out yesterday. They don't hurt, they're just a major pain to deal with. When I showered, I took a long string out of a hoodie and draped around my neck. I pinned a bulb on each end so the hung around my neck while I showered. So glad when they came out. But, to your original question, no, they didn't leak. You should be fine!

The drains you are talking about are called JP drains (jackson pratt is what JP stand for) they shouldnt leak. I am in nursing school so i deal with patients quite frequently that have either JP drains or hemovacs and they typically dont make a mess. Some patients say they are painful when they are first placed because of the suction but after an hour or so the pain goes away. You should still be knocked out when they insert your drains so you should be good!
