So, big question, did your PS tell you to massage, or not? thanks for answers in advance. And, did anyones PS actually tell you this would help prevent cc?
yes, my ps firmly believed in massage...he actually guaranteed soft results if you followed his regime...5 times a day for six months/(a floor exercise where you put all your weight on one boob, theory: to keep the pocket open )...retired last dec. at 70 some odd...i would say he had seen lots and lots of boobies in his time...sorry to see him retire...looking for another ps who followed his ideas and so far...no luck
as always, follow your own ps's advice...

My PS is has posted an instructional video on his site.
He actually demonstrated how at my first post OP appointment when my babies were still swollen & stuck-up high, ouch!(tears).
I was instructed to massage every 2 to 3 hours for the first 2 weeks,
then 3 times a day for 3 months, once a day after that.

I still do it twice a day: morning & evening, usually after shower or bath.

Reading this makes me feel a little better. Mine also says she doesn't think massage is necessary. According to her, to make any difference you would have to massage very aggressively. I trust her but I do feel like I'm one of the only one's not massaging. She's says leave the "massaging" to my husband!!

My PS said definitely massage, as much as possible for the first 3 weeks (6-10 times per day!) and then twice a day for a year, then once a day forever. He and his nurse assistant are huge believers that it helps prevent CC and also helps then drop into place.

They told me to start massaging on day TWO. I was terrified to try - everything was still so sore!!! They showed me how to do the massage and I was suprised how vigorous they wanted me to be. It was painful at first but I did it as much as I could stand to (maybe 3-4 times a day, somewhat gently). Now on day 8 I am up to 6-8 times/day and almost as vigorous as they showed me. It doesn't really "hurt" to do it now, but it's a bit uncomfortable. I had a followup today and the NA assured me it will be easier each day.

They also told me to start laying on my stomach for 5 minutes per day now that I'm past the first week. I guess the compression is also good for keeping the capsules soft.

I don't even care that it's uncomfortable - if it reduces my risk of CC, I'm all for it!

I asked the question of my PS and he said 'you don't massage textured overs because it stops theme being held in place'... but I haven't heard this anywhere else so am a bit worried!
