To Massage, or not to

Hey ladies, Im posting another thread. I am concerned with all of the problems that can occur post op. CC being more common than I thought. I was never told by my PS to massage?? I thought you HAD to do this?? I have been reading more here lately where there are those of us who were never told to massage, or told not to. So, big question, did your PS tell you to massage, or not? thanks for answers in advance. And, did anyones PS actually tell you this would help prevent cc?

I asked my PS specifically about massage to prevent cc. He said the newer implants are better designed so decrease the risk of cc. He also said that massage wouldn't hurt, it just wasn't supported in the literature. I'm planning on doing it because I've heard so many people say it works to help them drop and fluff

COLOR="Blue"]I don't know about the prevention of CC but I was told that it would help with the stiffness and help to loosen the implant. I have noticed that I did drop and fluff a little sooner than expected. PLUS it felt good with the way that I did it.[/color]

Dea, dont feel left out. My PS didnt instruct me to massage either. He said since theres no actual proof that it prevents CC, he doesnt have his patients doing it. Esp. since I got unders, he felt it was a bit redundant.

When I read about massage and all the ladies doing it, it really sounds like it makes sense. I always give em a vigororus rubbing under the hot water when Im in the shower. JIC it does keep the capsules soft and open.

I voted that my PS didn't instruct me to but his nurse assistant did... She said that he doesn't recommend massage per se but she feels it can't do any harm anyway so I should massage. I have occasionally but have not made it into a big deal either way.

i was told not to massage at all. i do feel paranoid when i'm playing with them, does that count as massaging or is massaging rougher with the implant?

My PS told me that it was dependent on me, he doesn't recommend it. When I asked about it he told me there was no "proof" that massage helped CC. He told me that if I really wanted to massage to do so while in shower and showed me a technique to do. I do it sometimes while washing, otherwise I've never massaged.

I was told to massage... but it was only to help them drop and to keep the pockets open. It felt good in the early stages to massage them a bit.

I was told to massage but wish I didn't have to do it. It just further reinforces my obsession with the breasts.

My ps never told me to massage so I asked him about it.
He said he didnt' believe that massage would help any.
My boobs still turned out very soft though.

My PS told me not to massage as well, she said that there is no difinitive research to suggest that massage makes any difference. I have textured implants also, so I think it's a no-no anyway with textured?

My PS told me to massage the top of the implant by pushing down just to make them softer and drop quicker but nothing crazy. The Nurse said it would help prevent cc. My neighbor was informed by her PS to massage underneath and squeeze them upwards so I wouldnt worry about yours not telling you to do it. When in doubt, give him a call and see if you should or why its not necessary.
