I am soooo confused!
I was told at my first and only consult thus far that under was the best option since I have breastfed and need a lift. I am in school to be a registered massage therapist and would prefer over as I dont want to damage muscle, yet I dont want cc, there is so much to learn and consider. Can you get a lift with overs? Is there really a increased risk of cc?

I don't think there's a huge risk of muscle damage so long as you follow your surgeon's post-op instructions and allow things to heal properly. There's some more post-op pain involved, but I didn't find it too bad once I got past those first couple of days. Soon enough, I was getting myself in and out of bed.

I only considered unders b/c of the presumed natural look but also because I didn't have a whole lot of breast tissue to begin with and I have a bony chest -- overs probably would have resulted in rippling. To be perfectly honest, I'm not even sure if I have partial or total unders!! (I think I have the partial b/c I can feel the bottom of the implants under my boobs.)

Something else to consider: When you get unders (sub-muscular), every time you flex your pecs or utilize those chest muscles, the implant shifts ever so slightly -- it's perfectly normal; just a byproduct of the placement. I am extremely happy with my unders -- even if it means I never do another pushup! But as someone who works with her upperbody a lot, you might want to hunt down some "over" and "under" women on JBI who work in your field to see what they have to share.

Either way, though, I wouldn't worry about "damage" -- not with an experienced and skilled surgeon.

PS: Not sure about the lift thing; I have read that CC is a greater risk w/ overs, but certainly not impossible with unders.

Im scheduled to get overs. It was completely my choice and when I told my PS she asked me why? I explained and she agreed!! I loved that she asked why to get my point of view. Maybe thats just me being a geek but it made me feel like she really gave a damn!

The PS suggested submuscular based on my breast tissue and trying to obtain a natural look.

I initially had them placed submuscular (January 2013), but just had them switched this week to subfascial due to flex distortion and double bubble. I can already tell I am going to like them much better.

You might want to have a consult with a PS that does subfascial. You have the benefit of support of the fascia without increased risk of cc and no flex distortion. Not all PS do this type of placement.

I chose submuscular because it looks more natural and I had virtually no breast tissue.
