Implant position, submuscular, subfascial, subglandular

I just wanted to know how many of you girls had your breast augmentation in the submuscular, subfascial or subglandular plane and why.

Submuscular placement for me.

Because overall I wanted a natural result, and apparently this placement has reduced risk of capsular contracture, and was deemed the best option for me after a number of consults with my PS.

My first set were overs bc I was told by my first PS it would give me that natural hang like real breasts. Not to mention he only did overs. I was happy with them for many years but after having and breastfeeding my daughter that natural hang was just way too natural and they hung waaaay too low. So with my revision this time I went with full unders and now they are big and perky again!

I have Overs. The PS suggested that for me because I have had 6 kids. But, I think most of his patients are also Overs.

I also liked the fact that my healing times is faster and so are the results.

Also, I kindof have this weird brain...and when I think about certain things too much, I get weirded out! So, whenever I thought about the PS cutting into my pec muscles and putting something under them...I would get a really weird feeling. I know it is weird...but it is me!! haha! So glad that I have Overs.

I have posted my healing in the Breast Augmentation Stories I am doing this so other "Overs girls" can see what they might expect. And since I have one implant 100cc more the other and had my crease lowered, I write about that healing process too.

I also have overs, PS choice because of the natural look I was going for and because I've had 3 kids. Very happy with my results and especially the recovery!

I've decided on Submuscular/Dual plane.

I'm just not comfortable with over the muscle since there is increased risk of CC, and because of decreased detection of small breast cancers on mammography later on in life.

New To The Forum

I am very excited and also nervous all at the same time.
My PS has been amazing in answering my questions. However, I also feel it is also important to get feedback from those who have actually gone under the knife as well.

Thank you for creating this post! ;-) I have been searching all over the net for feedback from women who have gotten over implants. So any info, blogs and links regarding this procedure will be most appreciated!

My PS recommended overs for me as well and I was/am a bit worried about the risk and complication vs. unders. However, I do trust his judgment, just sometimes reading other individuals perspective on over/under can be a confusing process.

I think by bilateral he means dual-plane (when the muscle covers only top half of the implant). I saw on your profile that your implants are under the muscle, and subfascial can only be over the muscle (but under the fascia).

Mine are overs (subglandular). Perfect placement for me - I chose it myself and I love it

My first set was submuscular, 'cause thats the way they do it on the clinique I choose ( you know, less sag, natural look, less rippling and reduced risk of capsular contraction and all that crap!).
Unfortunately I developed a dubble bubble on both breasts, rippling, had severe muscle flex distortion, and suprise, suprise....capsular contraction
Well, luckily my PS was open to a change of position.
I now have subglandular and none of the previous problems.

You have partial unders. Sub-fascial is completely different and doesn't involve the muscles at all. The implant is placed over the muscle but under the fascia that covers the muscle

I have sub-fascials and I love them. I don't have muscle flex distortion which can happen with unders but I have some extra coverage since I started with very little breast tissue. For me, this placement is best. I didn't want my implants to interfere with mammograms in the future but I also can't stand the thought of my muscles being cut or lifted from my chest...I get creeped out easily

Submuscular placement which is under the muscle.

PS wanted me to have a natural result, and apparently this placement has reduced risk of capsular contracture as well.

30GMarie, I had implant surgery done three months ago, submuscular placement for exactly the same reasons as you. Now I notice a fairly severe amount of MFD, even in my daily life, such as steering a car or just pouring a glass of water. This is annoying. I'm curious to know, since you've changed the placement, now do your pecs move and work as they did before any of the surgeries or do you still suffer from the fact that the pec muscles have been severed?
