Hospital or Outpatient?
When you had your breast augmentation, did you have outpatient surgery or an overnight hospital stay?

i was in hospital for a day. does that count as hospital or outpatient?
here its called a "day patient" coz out patients are those people who go back for post op or things like that. something minor not needing surgery ... complicated i know

I was at an "after surgery care" clinic..
that was elective though.. my ps said I could just go home if i wanted to.. but i felt safer that way, and more comfy too.. as they have those beds that lift up the back part, TV, DVD, CD player, I mean... the whole nine yards!! AND you get to have someone (nurse) who knows what they're doing come in for your every request!! It was nice (eventhough i was alone in my room) and I even met a nurse who wanted to know all about it as she too was gonna get hers done!!

I think that would be outpatient. If you stayed overnight in the hospital, that would be a hospital stay.

I'll be staying overnight in hospital. I think I'll be glad to have nurses on hand there if I need it. But hopefully I'm fine and can't wait to be discharged!

Wow, I didn't realize so many gals stayed overnight. I was outpatient & glad for it, I don't like hospitals at all...my pain was very manageable & I felt great as soon as the anaesthesia wore off. Hub & I stayed at a local hotel & saw my PS the following morning.

I wasn't given an option. It was considered elective outpatient surgery. It was done at a hospital but in an area reserved for outpatient procedures.
I consulted with another PS who did ba's in a "surgery suite" in his office. (it looked like every other room in his office just had more equipment) I felt more comfortable being at the hospital. At least that way if something happened to go wrong all they had to do was move me upstairs. |

I will be staying overnight after my surgery but it is in a private, ensuite room, and I'm actually really looking forwward to it! I won't have to worry about whether hubby is coping with the kids, I'll get all my meals/drinks brought to me, I'll get to read/watch TV/ listen to my music without being disturbed - who could ask for more LOL!

PS's Decision
I had outpatient surgery at a hospital. My PS said I'd need to spend the night if my blood pressure got high or my potassium levels dropped, but I was okay - thank goodness - and I got to go home less than two hours after I went to the recovery room. I had minimal pain, so I'm glad that I didn't have to stay overnight. I was fine at home - hungry, restful, and happy to be with my daughters and husband. I would have been so lonely at the hospital all night! I slept on the couch the first night, and that was a mistake. I should have walked upstairs and gotten into my own bed, because I couldn't get comfortable, and I can't sleep sitting in a chair. Thankfully, I have a super-wonderful husband who took care of bathing my children and fixing their dinners and breakfasts for a couple of days. I couldn't have had such a smooth recovery if he hadn't been here to a |
