Question saline vs silicone poll (yes another!)

I know this is a common theme on this board, but I wanted to start a more specific thread regarding saline vs silicone. I have talked to so many women who either wanted silicone but had to go with saline (for medical or financial reasons), or got saline and later wished they had gotten silicone/plan on changing to silicone for the redo. But I also spoke with many women who are very happy with their choice. I wanted to see what the stats were on this board. Definitely not trying to start a saline vs silicone debate though. I understand that it's a completely personal choice!

I went with saline for my own various reasons. I am very happy with them and would not switch to silicone. That said, I've never felt silicone, or maybe I'd change my tune. But since I'm happy, I don't see any point even trying that.

I'm very happy with my salines ... I think silicone feels amazing, but just wasn't for me - I would have always been worrying about them, and I didn't want to burden myself with the financial follow-up obligations. (MRIs and such.)

after much online research and so fortunate to get to talk w/many girls, is when i decided to go w/silicone, and persisted in finding a PS that 1--did them and 2--very familiar w/them. (where i live most PS' are so super freakin conservative about everything!)

Thanks for responding! My BFF got saline about 6 years ago and plans on going back for silicone due to the rippling she has experienced. I've noticed lots of women are very happy with their saline though! From the looks of my PS's before and after pics though, I don't think it will matter which I go with, they will look AMAZING! I'm leaning towards silicone right now though, depending on what he recommends for my body.

I agree! No need to fix it if it's not broken! Thanks for responding!

Gotcha. Yeah those are definitely valid reasons! I haven't had a chance to feel them yet but I'm sure I will during my consultation. Too bad I have too wait so long! I'm anxious!

I originally got saline and hated them. I had lots of lateral rippling and they were hard particularly the top portion of the breast. I could feel the edges of the impants and they felt like sacs of water.

Anyways, I switched to silicone and absolutely love them. I don't ever feel the implants and they are so soft and squishy.

The poll did not have that as an option so I just picked the got saline and wished I got silicone.

None of the choices really apply to me. I started out w/silicone, switched to saline, and then went back to silicone. The only reason that I switched to saline is b/c at that time, it was believed that saline had a SLIGHTLY lower cc risk. Since I'd had cc twice, I went to saline. I switched back to silicone last year tho.

Catherine & Nikki,
Thanks for responding! One of the reasons I started this thread is because one of my best friends has saline and after experiencing the rippling and cc, she is switching to silicone. I wanted to see how common this was because I had read about a few others who did the same in a few of the threads on this board.
Thanks for voting...sorry I didn't include all the options on the poll. I knew I should've included an "other"!! lol

I picked, "Wanted silicone but had to get saline (financial, medical or other reason)" I had to get saline because when I had my BA, there was a moratorium on silicone, you couldn't get it for a first time BA - unless you met certain requirements.

I like my salines just fine, I do have some rippling with them but it doesn't bother me enough to redo just for that reason. Next time, I will have silicone.

I voted "Got saline but wished I got silicone/or plan on going back to get silicone" for the same reason Catherine posted. I had wanted silicone but my PS was convinced saline would work for me. We're consulting in January to see if I still feel the same way and if I do we're swapping 'em.
