Silicone vs. Saline

Which did you pick, and why?
Would you choose differently now?

Saline.

I went with Saline because I'm under 22 (doctor's orders, I guess) and have no preexisting problems that would allow me to get Silicone. I probably would have went with Silicone though, because I am really small and have a large possibility of rippling.

I posted this poll to reference for my next possible surgery.. I love to see what you ladies have to say!

I got Silicone and I love it. I wanted to achieve the natural feel/look and less chance of rippling.

I got salines and wish I'd gotten silicone. I have rippling that I can't stand.

For 1st BA- Salines

I got salines because my PS recommended it. Age, mammograms, smaller incision + I also want to breastfeed in the future. My breasts look and feel very natural. My partner cannot believe how natural they feel. He is very happy with my BA. That being said, I am thrilled with the results. I also would like to add that before my initial consultation with PS I thought that silicone would be better for me. I was more worried about the natural feel. HOWEVER, PS advised that under the muscle the result of salines and silicone is pretty much the same. Both implants are good; it just depends on your variables (age, body type, amount of natural tissue) to determine which one will be the best for you at a given specific time. I believe that after I am done having my babies, it will be time to consider a re-do. I might end up getting silicone overs and go a bit bigger (boobie greed!)

Placement is important in mammagrams, not fill. Overs tend to obscure the veiws on breast mammagrams, regardless whether they are saline or silicone. My incision (nipple) is exactly the same size for silicone as it was for saline, and I went up in size!
I have had saline and silicone. In my opinion, there are pro's and con's based on my personal experience. The biggest reason I went with sil this time is because I had a rupture/deflation, and basically in 24 hours your boob goes away
I never wanted to have that happen again. Sil gels are like jello, so if you get a rupture it doesnt affect the shape or size of your breast. I personally feel that the sil's feel more real, and "mush" more like real breast tissue. They fall to the side more like a natural breast, again, on me anyways. What I guess I dont like or what I find inferior with sil versus saline, is that saline is a firmer implant, and it felt more comfortable to go without a bra, or support. But then again, maybe thats only because i went up 175 cc's.. not sure.
I am glad I got sil's and thats what my ps recommended. If I had to have a third surgery, I would go with silicone again..

Ive chosen Silicone, Cohesive Stable Form Gel.

Reasons, safer, no rippling, feel more natural, highly recommended by surgeons, do not have 'folding' problems.

My PS decided for me. He told me he felt silicone was the best choice for me. I trusted what he said due to the fact that I had not yet found this forum and he is an expert. I would not choose differently. I have no preference because I can not tell the difference being that I have only had one. I have friends with saline and no one would know mine was filled with a different substance.

I had saline and would not chose differently. If saline leaks, you will know instantly and your body will absorb it. However, w/silicone you will not know if it leaks, body does not absorb, more expensive, need MRI's.

Also, both silicone and saline ripple. It depends on how think/thin your skin is from stretching whether or not you will be able to see/feel it.

I'm getting silicone (next week!). My PS said I could go either way because with placement under the muscle, you probably will not be able to feel the implant that much.

I chose silicone because everyone seems to say that they wished they'd gotten silicone. As the price difference wasn't that much (I'm paying a lot to begin with, what's a few hundred dollars more for satisfaction?) that also factored it for me. I've already had my kids and am not planning more so that was a factor for me too.

I also saw a clip here that showed what happened when there was a leak in saline, old silicone, and new silicone. The fact that my memory gels will stay together rather than lose the boob made a difference. My PS also says they have a lifetime warranty (replacement of the implant and his services would be paid for by the mentor) made an impact on me too.

It is a tough decision.

I dont have mine done, but I have really been debating about what I want to do. I know that in the US you have to be 22 to get silicone, but then I already have breast tissue so I dont think saline would be that much different for me. I am a 34C now, and am hoping to be a full 34DD.
