it was reconstructive TO ME because i was trying to restore what i used to have--
it was a reclamation! a restoration!

anyone who has seen my albums can clearly see what I mean..
losing my breasts is the same as never having them at all, because i felt like I was having an identity crisis... you reach for what was there for years and then it is just gone....

and nothing in your wardrobe fits anymore.. and you feel like you were robbed of your feminity.. your womanhood...you feel ashamed when you see yourself in the mirror.. you dont take your shirt off during sex... you look at old pictures and then look at what is left and think " who is this woman? what happened!"
thats just how I personally feel.

For me it was a little of both I guess, reconstructive and cosmetic. I reconstructed and added a little while I was at it.
Yup, that's me too! My FH used to laugh at me cos I would call mine 'monkey boobs' ( you know when you see the mummy gorillas with the little saggy boobies?) After I got mine done and a couple of months later we saw the before pic, I think both of us were nearly sick! How embarrassing!

Mine is definitely cosmetic. I have always wanted bigger boobs, but I was not blessed like others in my family...I was huge after having my daughter and completely deflated...I want that fullness back.

Cosmetic for me. It was nothing more than a size change.

Reconstructive. I lost 48 pounds and had breastfed 4 kids. After my weight loss, I had 2 empty sacks on my chest. No tissue at all.

My next surgery is cosmetic. We are fixing a minor complication I had and going a tad bit bigger in the process.

I would definately say reconstructive...I had tuberous boobies, I was a borderline 32B and had absolutely 0 lower pole fullness and not only that one was way bigger than the other so I had no choice but to get a BA in order to straighten things out. So yea, I did need a little maintenance.

I was trolling the polls and saw mine.

It's good to hear everyone's stories and how we each view our BA.

Thanks for answering everyone!

reconstructive by definition is when something is built *after* it was taken away, such as a masectomy so w/that said, and while BA's were first done on cancer patients and masectomy patients, all others are then considered 'purely cosmetic'

hth!

Yup thats me exactly.. even the part in your siggy about having pumped for your tube fed preemies (only one of mine was tube fed, but the other took a really small bottle cause she had a weak latch)!
I felt it was definitely reconstructive. It was embarrassing to take off my shit and have little BAGS of nothing with nipples that should be on big boobs!

My husband was happy with my body like it was.. but I know he probably missed my old boobs...if for no other reason than that i was more comfortable with my body and willing to leave the lights on (and top off) when we had sex before I lost them.
