Did you go back to smoking after BA?

I know all doctors, including PSs, say to stop smoking period, but especially before surgery!!! I see all the signatures for thos of you who have been proudly stopped smoking! I am just curious to see if there are ladies out there who have not stopped smoking, or ladies that have tried and who went back to smoking! I am one that stopped smoking 4 weeks before my breast augmentation, as requested by my PS, and continued to be smoke fee for almost a month after my breast augmentation, but once I went out with friends and had a few drinks, I picked it right back up!!! UUGGHH!!! I have to say that I am more of a social smoker, or a nervous smoker, but either way, I cant proudly say I am a "quiter" like some of you other ladies!!!!

no reply?

Funny that people have voted on this but have not posted any replies. Smoker shame? lol I planned on stopping but when I asked my PS's office about it they said that with twilight sedation it wasn't as important that I be smoke free. It might have been an honest answer but I wish they would have told me something else cause my motivation went right out the window! So I continued to smoke and I still smoke now. I am a lighter smoker than I was though with only 4-7 cigs a day.

I vote in most of the polls but usually don't post a reply cause the poll says it all.

Anyway, here's my reply. I quit smoking one month before my surgery and did not smoke for 10 month's. I've smoked off and on for the last 6 month's and right now I'm off and hope I stay off! A couple of month's ago I paid $7.46 for a pack. Ridiculous of me to waste my money this way! Just think of all the bras I could have bought!

In New York now cigarettes are close to $10 a pack...more of a reason to never smoke again!! I was a "social" smoker since I was a teenager and my breast augmentation gave me a solid reason to actually "quit". I'll have one here or there now when I'm having a drink with friends maybe but thats like 1 cigarette every week so I don't count it. And then the next day I cough up a lung so it's really not worth it.

My PS said to quit - so I did, and I have remained smoke free since March 2003.

In my dreams I am still a smoker, when I see smokers I stand near them to get second hand smoke. I am a true ciggie addict.

What keeps me ciggie free? Dh says if I started up again he would leave me.

Smile To smoke or Not?

My PS demanded that I quit 2 wks before surgery. Was a huge issue between us. The reason is nicotine can cause necrosis of tissue. That means dead tissue. Nicotine causes your blood vessels to shrink and the blood flow to be less, and for healing you need all the blood flow you can get as in my case, I had a breast augmentation/BL full anchor. He did not want the liability of necrosis as he could not control that so that is why they demand we quit smoking b4 and after.
I quit two weeks before and then started back up again 4 days after and thankfully have not had any necrosis. Hope that clarifies for everyone, why they want us to quit.

my ps told me to stop smoking 1 mo before my breast augmentation. I ended up quitting 2 weeks before my breast augmentation instead. not that i'm 1 and a half post op i haven't picked up a cig. but i'm going to vegas next weekend and i'm kinda scared that when i'm drinking i'll pick the habit up again. i'll need to make sure my sheer power of will will get me by. hahah i do have to admit that i feel soooo much better now and that my skin has cleared up tons.
