Shouldnt there NOT be an option?? From the way I understood it, its a more gentle surgery...So isnt that what they should be doing?

Hmm..Do they charge more this? Just wondering,Thank you
My surgeon only uses the Rapid Recovery method. It is a very very gentle procedure....I had no bruising what-so-ever! I also have never experienced any numbness either and I'm not sure if that's due to Rapid Recovery or not, but I'm super satisfied. Mine did not charge extra.

Thanks for the quick replys, girls! I guess I was confused..From what I read about the Rapid Recovery surgerys and from this post I somehow thought it was an option plastic surgeons offered for more money. But now I get it lol...They are just letting you know thats what they use! Sorry about that!
I am actually going to see Dr.Sorokin for a consult! I havent scheduled it yet but I have emailed the office and have been instructed to call, Im assuming his office will be closed tomorrow so I will be calling on tuesday first thing in the morning...I hope I can get it sooner than later!! I thought I was going to have to post pone my surgery but actually might have the oppurtunity to get it as soon as I can! YAY ME! *crosses finger**

Thanks again! And sorry I seem to be getting off topic!!

I've had 4 surgeries, and only had one recovery that was longer than the others. My ps doesn't offer "rapid recovery" (he doesn't say he does "rapid recovery"). But, most of the women that go to him seem to have easy recoveries.

a newb question

What exactly is rapid recovery? Do we have a choice of it when we have the breast augmentation? What are the pros and cons?

From what I understand it is not a choice, it a certain technique used by plastic sergeons. Its a more gentler way of doing things. Once the plastic sergeon certifys himself and trains himself in it that would be the only technique he uses. I beleive if you read through this thread there are much more helpful answers, HTH

VictoriaC's right. It's not really a choice, it's how the PS operates and the method he subscribes to. You'd have to find a PS who uses this method.

My experience was that there wasn't a con to this;it just works better and seems healthier for you (ie. Feeling well enough to take a walk with your family a few hours after surgery and go out to dinner that night VS. Being bed-ridden for a couple days because your muscles are so tight and painful)

Day 5 for me and I can say it definitely worked out great for me. I took a two hour nap after surgery and then went shopping and out to lunch. Then went out to dinner later on in the evening. I had some pain and tightness, nothing to immobilize me though and I am a wimp. Only VERY slight bruising by the incision on my left breast, none on good ole' righty. I don't think I have swelling either. I don't know how to tell, but the nurse said with his technique you don't really have any.

so I didn't do the rapid recovery- at least my ps had never mentioned it but I am having an amazing recovery! I have to keep this pin-up bra on at all times but my ps told me on my first post-op that I am welcome to shower. I never had any pain or nausea and I've been up and about since my 3rd day post op. I feel great. All I have is my sore throat- that's the only discomfort I have. good luck on recovery ladies!

I am seriously considering changing the leading choice for my PS based on this. I've seen great results from the original PS I considered but he doesn't use sizers and well, he doesn't use Rapid Recovery either.

my ps actually didn't have any restriction besides not doing weight lifting after a week he said i could go on the treadmill but besides that he said nothing else. I wore a tight bra for a week and after that he said he would prefer me not to use any not even at night, but i wasn't really comfortable so i just put on a sports bra but not that tight just to hold them

However, I am wondering how two different surgeons can implement two COMPLETELY different methods for post op and both be successful... It's just weird how different they are. He uses the rapid recovery method. Some of the differences are:

1. He does not wrap you or give you a strap after surgery. You go home with steri-strips (i believe) and that's it.

2. He says NO bra for at least a month, no wire bras for at least 6 months, and definitely NO sports bras until they've completely settled.

3. He wants you to take a ton of showers the first day (right after surgery) as opposed to waiting a few days.

4. He doesn't restrict movement of your arms at all, as opposed to some that say to leave your elbows at your sides.

5. He suggests going out and driving, shopping, etc the day after.

I understand a lot of the reasoning behind these (gently stretching the muscle to help keep it from being sore and tight, not compressing the breasts so they drop faster, etc.) but it's just SO different from what most people advise and again everyone RAVES about him. Any experience, info, or thoughts on this are most welcome, and thanks for reading the novel of a poll I've created! lol

Here's his site, beautiful before and afters

Girl you know I did this twice I love Dr. C... It worked fabulously for me... according to the implant company Dr. C does the most surgeries Love him and my Heidi

It is a more gentler procedure. This approach eliminates the blunt disection, tearing of tissue, bruising the bone, reduces bleeding. The goal is less bruising, less bleeding and less pain. The arm exercises cut down on muscle spasms. If you google it, you can certainly find many surgeons nationwide who practice this method, especially Dr. Tebbetts who developed it.
excactly... well worded.
I want to cry when I think about how wonderful Dr. C was with both my procedures. I was so lucky to have been refered to him and his fabulously helpful staff. The whole procedure is so natural and as holistic as I think is possible for something like a breast augmentation. Even the pain meds afterwards are low dosages and the least addictive of the prescriptions... I was on Ibuprofen on day 2. I called the PS last week when I had another PS tell me that RR was a scam. I was hurt that someone would say this about my PS... but his nurse was so kind and said nothing bad... they don't advertise RR, but that is the healing track he puts his patients on. I mentioned to her how some girls still have pain pumps and all of that... she just said that different PSs vary on their training and how they do the procedure... RR is the future of BAs and I feel so blessed that I was able to have Dr.C
