Steri-strips

Hi girls,

For those who continued using steri-strips after a week or 2 post BA, do you change steri-strips every after you shower? Or do you put them back on for 2times or more?

My PS advised me to continue putting Foskina antibiotic cream but when I asked him about steri-strips, he said I could alternate them if I wanted to. I forgot to ask him how I'll go about it!

Thanks in advance for your sharing!

Angel

My PS has me change them once a week. And she had / has me wear them 6 weeks post-surgery.

I also had to wear mine for 6 weeks PO. I changed them every 6-8 days and I'd always do it after a shower which made it easier. HTH!

I think mine wants you to keep the steristrips on for about 3-4 months. I will see him tomorrow and find out for sure.

I tried putting on the steri strips but when I peeled them off to take a shower, there was some light yellow stuff stuck in them from my incisions even if I cleaned my incisions and applied very little antibiotic cream before putting steri strips.

Do you leave them on while having a shower? Or do you take them off and put them back on again after your shower? My next PS visit is this Saturday yet because I'm kinda busy this week with teaching.

Thanks so much, girls!

Angel

I wouldn't scrub anything near your incision.

I take off the steri-strip and replace it AFTER my shower.

There'll be time for scrubbing once you're completely healed!

I wore steri-strips for 6 to 8 weeks post-op. There's no way that I would have been able to change them every day, they stick too well. I would wear it until it started to curl on the edges, and trim the ends of the strip. I would change mine about every week and a half to two weeks.

I really believe in wearing the steri-strips. They keep tension off of the incision and IMO creates a better looking scar. My scars are very thin lines.

Hmmm. I wonder what my PS meant by alternating antibiotic cream and steri-strips. I forgot to ask for how long I'll keep the steri-strips alternately. 3 days then take them out to apply antibiotic cream for a day? I'll ask him tomorrow. I'll definitely do the steris!

Thanks, girls!

I took peeled back my steristrips on each end (just enough to where the stitch wasn't sticking to it) and pulled the stitch out. I kept the strips on until they fell off on their own.

I've read a lot of your posts, and I know you just want to hear what other women got told by their surgeons - but still, make sure you do what YOUR ps says. If you don't, and something happens, you'll regret it.

Oh Nikki, thank you for the reminder!

Yes, I always do my best to follow what my PS requires. I don't want anything untoward happening to my boobies!!! If I read anything interesting here, I am always excited to ask him about it and he tells me his views. He thinks it's great that we share a lot of different experiences, ideas and information here in JBI! He's out of the country again so I'll be able to see him Tuesday yet.
