Question Need advice on lifting...

I just had my BA 3/24/08 (Monday)
I am a full time nanny to a 1yr old and 3 yr old.
My PS said I should be able to lift over 10lbs between 8-10 days.
I go back to work on Monday...which is 7 days post op...
I am looking for tips on how to better lift the 1 yr old in/out of her crib.
She is walking and hates for me to hold her so the only time I will need to pick her up is when I have to put her in the car seat or down for nap.

She weighs about 20 lbs....
I am wondering if any moms have been in this situation and can give me advice.

Thanks !

I have 19 month old twins and am now on day four post op. The crib has been my biggest problem right now and so far I have only been able to get them out. Going in is a problem because they are never that eager to go to bed or take a nap. Coming out however, I lower the crib on the sides and ONE of my twins will climb out using my leg to slide down to the floor. The other twin runs to the corner of his crib and waits for someone that can come in and tackle him to get him out. I am hoping I can lift things soon or I am going to be in trouble as well. At least she only weighs around 20 lbs...my 19 month olds are a little closer to 30lbs so I have to be pretty careful.

Good luck to you!!

My p/s told me no lifting period for 6 weeks. My husband had to carry my books to class for me....doctor's orders I was able to do some lifting 2.5-3 weeks out without the feeling that I was straining myself...but only with my p/s okay first Best of luck!!!

Wow, mommies do have a tough post op time indeed. And I thought mine was one of the worst!

Take care

Thanks for the information girls!
I guess I will just have to try different ways until I find a comfortable way.
My doctor said the 8-10 days....but I am thinking that it might be longer...

Thanks again!

I think I read one of the mommies on here was most comfy picking her babes up when she held the kiddies very tight to her.
