Just curious as to what post/op procedures/instructions your p/s gave to you.
I am just curious as to the procedures your p/s follows for his/her post op b/a patients
![]() My implants were placed in the crease and under the muscle. I have round, smooth saline. I had steri strips overtop of my stitches; the strips came off 24hours after surgery; at which time I could shower. My stitches came out 1 week after surgery and another set of steri strips were applied that I had to leave on for 3days. I had to wear a supportive sports bra that zipped in the front to my b/a. It had to be my current size so that it would compress my breasts after surgery, and I would wear that for the next 7 days, until my stitches were removed. The day my stitches came out, my surgeon performed my first post op breast massage; showing me how I needed to do it and telling me to commence that night and 2-3 times a day thereafter to increase the softness of my implants. Thnx for the feedback ladies!!!

Hi! We have more or less the same PS post-op instructions.
Medications. I was also required to take pain reliever/anti-inflammatory medications, antibiotics and to continue my usual vitamins plus iron (for my low red blood count). Boobie wear. Surgical bra with a support for the top of my boobies were lent to me for 2 weeks. He recommended a tube type/cami bra with a thick elastic on top and soft stretchy cover for my boobies. Movement and lifting. Arms as close as possible to my sides (no raising of arms!) and no lifting for 2 weeks post-op, I think. Now, I'm allowed to lift up to 5pounds. Walking was allowed at 1week post op, cycling on paved road at 1month post op yet. I forgot when I am allowed to run. Three months post op? Oh no! Massaging of boobies. Vigorous and hard very often in a day for 3 weeks. Gosh, I forgot for exactly how long. Bloody Alzheimers! Hehehe.. Hope this helps. Take care, girl! ![]() Angel

I started out a little differently because I had a pain pump. I was wrapped and had the pain pump for 4 days at which time dh removed the pain pump catheters and I got to shower!!!! Then I went into an underwire with a 2" strap across the top. I'll keep the underwire and strap for 3 weeks, and then it's any bra I want.....woohoo!!
I had oxycodone twice per day for the first 5 days, and Vicoden to take for break through pain when needed. I was completely onto Tylenol at the end of the first week. I also took an antibiotic for the first 10 days. I can't do any lifting and I have to keep my arms to my sides as much as possible for at least the first 3 weeks. I am worried about carrying my laptop when I'm back at work this week but may need to feign some back injury or something for a while. My steri strips came off on day 10; then I have to keep cleaning the incisions with a water/peroxide mixture. My ps gave no massage instructions other than light massage to help with some nipple-oversensitivity. I had one post-op appointment after the first week, and it went so well that I was able to cancel my week 2 appointment and come back on week 3. I'll probably get more instructions then. Hope that helps.....happy healing! |

1. Take pain meds as needed BEFORE pain hits
2. Wear surgical bra 24/7 first month 3. Leave steri strips on first month (had disolving stitches) 4. No lifting / exercise until he said so At first post op was given massage instructions and told 3 times per day min more is better! |

I had the same general instructions.
I had a full SIX WEEKS of arm movement restrictions -- keeping them by my side, and no overhead reaching at all. That part was hard.

It is so confusing! Some ps' tell you to do the direct opposite of what other's say!
Some say no raising your arms for 2,4, or 6 weeks, some say raise them often as soon as you can after surgery. Some say massage, some say don't. etc etc etc It's so head spinning, I know I should listen to my ps, which is what I intend to do, however you can't help but get confused with all of the variations! |

Oh you bet all PS have different instructions. If there is anything interesting I read here, I ask my PS about it and he always tells me his opinions and I always follow his advice. Sometimes, I forget though
![]() I read about this rapid recovery program where the PS makes his BA patients do arm and body movements and do regular things as early as one hour post-op. I can't imagine myself doing that at all...

You've got the right idea on listening to your p/s. He/she must have gotten successful results from the advice, or else he/she probably wouldn't be handing it out Good luck!!

![]() Part of me thinks that I would have probably felt better though if I would have been making a meager attempt at moving around; because once I did, I quickly began feeling much better. I was just too scared to push it early on I guess
