HELP! I am freaking!!!!
Okay, UGH........
I am NEVER EVER EVER late, I have had my period once since my BA, since it was over a month ago. I AM 5 DAYS LATE!!!!!! For a week now I have "felt" like I was getting it, had the hungry horrors, soooo tired etc. Okay so your next ? is birth control. I have an IUD (I love it BTW) and I know some people who have gotten pregnant on them, but it is few and far between. Do you think the surgery could have messed up my cycle, even tho I already had one normal timed period? I know I should just go get a test and be done with it, but I honestly dont want to waste 20$~!! and to quite honest I am afraid. I have 6 kids........and am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am hugely fertile but I have had the IUD for 3 years (they are good for 5) |

My PS mentioned that BA may affect the menstrual cycle depending on the patient. I think it will depend on the emotional stress or hormonal changes we go through post BA. I suggest you get the test rather than subject yourself to so much worry!
Well, I don't know what to say really, girl. I can imagine how worried you are. My sister was freaking out when she thought she was pregnant after 2 kids.Oh dear, I hope it's just your BA messing up with your hormones. Keeping my fingers crossed. Angel

Fingers crossed for you that your cycle is just upset by surgery!!!!!!!!!
Wait a couple more days, then bit the bullet and take the test, if you haven't started. You need to know one way or the other. Think of the relief if it's negative. It'll be $20 well-spent. Slinky |

oh honey! I bet it's the stress. Plus the meds and the anesthesia and everything else. You just went through a major surgery! Your body's using all it's resources to heal - it might just be preoccupied with that.
I'm praying for you tho! |

I've had odd spotting and cramping since my BA so I suspect that you're just dealing with cycle irregularity due to stress, etc. I understand the terror though
My youngest is 5 and I am DONE!

Fingers crossed for you too! Surgeries can totally mess up your cycle, with the anasthethia and medications and all. It's natural for our bodies to hold off on a cycle when it senses major change going on, such as a stress. It's a protection mechanism. I'm on the pill, but I spotted in between cycles after my BA, and I rarely do. I think it had to do with all of the meds and antibiotics I was on.

I too have an IUD and my period is no where near normal right now. The first one I had was late and I am NEVER EVER late. I'm always exactly 28 days and with the IUD it is always very light and lasts 1 to 5 days. Well, after I had my first one since the surgery (which was late) I started a 2nd one 10 days early and I have been bleeding HEAVY for 8 days. I don't know what the heck is wrong? I'm wondering if it's the surgery that has messed with my normal cycle. I hope you get answers because I too am looking for answers!!!
P.S. Remember...I had my surgery the exact same day as you!!

Yes, your cycle (hormones) can be thrown off for a few months. It's the anesthesia, narcotics, antibiotics and general trauma from surgery. I wouldn't worry too much but if a pregnancy test would make you feel better, it can't hurt.

Thank you all for your reassuring posts! On top of everything I drank last night too!!! I had a dream last night that I was preggers, so when I woke up I did the math on the calender, didnt realize I was that late......I am going to get a test tomorrow if it doesnt come by then.....peace of mind is everything.
I am just scared s&*tless! I know how much of a blessing children are, luckily can afford them, but UGH the thought of starting over again..........AND what if it ruins my boobs! My DH told me not to worry we will get a nanny, if I am. I had one but she finished school and moved back home.......she was the BEST!!! Then I just got used to doing everything myself. He actually thinks it is quite funny........joking around his "boys" can swim thru anything.......ugh men. But I think you guys are right...I think it is the anesth. and meds etc. So thanks, I knew you all would make me feel better!!!!! Thats why I posted this, I will update! |

in my best nurse voice "anesthesia, stress, meds, trauma/surgery can all effect the cycle you are used to, if it does not go back to your normal, contact your ob/gyn" i wouldn't stress (haha see, its probably all the surg stress and the "omg i could be preg" stress!!), take a test soon just to calm your mind. but i see it all the time at work.

I was late after my BA too. Scary. Hope you get your cycle back on track.
Your dh saying you would "just get a nanny" made me smile. Sweet guy.
