Getting Rid of Incision Scabs... GRRRR!

Hi girls,

How did you get rid of incision scabs?

I still have scabs at 3weeks post op and my PS won't allow me to apply Dermatix silicon gel for my scars if the scabs wont go away The incision scars feel so lumpy already and the scabs are screaming to be peeled off. I know, I know I should not... But is there a faster and gentler way to get rid of these scabs?

Thanks!

Dusky Angel

LEAVE THEM ALONE girl! Touching them at ALL is a bad idea. Infections are worse than waiting for the scab to come off.

At the risk of sounding like a mother.... Leave them alone, do NOT pick them!

You do not want to mess with them. If you pull them off, you are at a greater risk that bacteria can enter. Right now they are closed, I would leave them and deal with it. They won't be an annoyance forever, just for the right now.

I thought you were wearing the steri strips?

Okay, okay.. I'll really be patient and restrain myself.

Ivy, I'm supposed to alternate the steri-strips and antibiotic cream. I wore the strips twice only after my recent post about it. When I took them out, a light yellowish hard stuff stuck to the strips (ewww...). Must have been the scabs or the antibiotic cream. I only bought 2 pairs so now I'm back to antibiotic cream on my incisions. I'll get more strips probably tomorrow.

Thank you, girls!

Don't touch them- you will regret it if you do!!! That is the best way to get a scar and possibly even an infection...but at the least it will make you scar terribly. I know it must be tempting, but resist!!! Soak them with a warm washcloth maybe...I don't see how that could cause much harm...but don't pick or touch them at ALL with your hands or anything else!
