For those of you who gained weight post op..

Ok.... this weight gain is really getting to me..

I am now 12 days post op and am still 10 lbs over my pre op weight..

I cannot stand feeling this way.

I went to my 1 week check to have some of my stitches removed and
I asked about the weight thing... He did say it happens.. but I forgot to ask when the
weight drops back.

For those who also gained an abnormal amount of weight post op,
please tell me how long it took to drop the weight?

Thanks

Hey Becky!

Don't freak out. It is very common to gain weight after surgery. I also gained 10 pounds after surgery. The majority of the weight gain is from the IV fluids that they give you. Also, your stomach will bloat up from the gas anesthesia. Not to mention, you just had some weight added by putting the implants in. I was really mad when I weighed myself a few days after my surgery and saw that I weighed 10 pounds more than when I went in. LOL It took me about 3-3 1/2 weeks to get back down to my normal weight. Drink plenty of water and try to move around as much as you can comfortably. The weight will come off...I promise. =) I hope this was reassuring. Good luck with your recovery!!! =)

hi Becky

Like you I gained weight ... 15lbs to my horror!

i am now almost 3 weeks post op, over the last few days have noticed that as my body is returning to normal, ie the bloated feeling is going,I now able to use the toilet on a daily basis, I discovered that I errrmmm ... had a lot of wind over last few days too.

However I weighed myself today & have lost 5 of the 15lbs & hope it continues.

Hope tthis helps

You also bloat up because of the pain pills.

Thank you so much for these postings. I was so freaking out to see that I had gained 10 pounds. I keep telling my husband I know these boobs don't weight 10lbs. I have not eaten that much. What is the deal! Now that I am going a little more regular to the bathroom if you know what I mean, it is helping. Thank you so much for the relief gals. You are all a life saver to my state of mind.

I have also heard that when you eat any amounts of salt after the surgery that your body really puffs up! I have a co-worker that had a tummy tuck and any little salt she ate after surgery would blow her up big time! I am planning on a bland diet for a few weeks following the surgery. Hang in there! It'll all return to nice and normal before too long I bet!

Don't feel bad, I gained about 20lbs and was terrified to look at the scale. My album has a few of my bloat pictures. Not pretty but very normal.

It's mostly fluid, and you'll lose that before you know it. It took me a GOOD 2 weeks to get rid of it.

Just wanted to say that I'm in the exact same position, I'm bloated not only from the meds and anesthesia but I am also on my period which doesn't help. I usually feel better by taking a light walk a few times a day but I try very hard not to overdo it, although I feel like it!! I feel like I've gained 25lbs or something but I dare not look at the scale until most of this crap is flushed out of my system.
Don't worry about the numbers on the scale for now, it's mostly water and other stuff, you probably have gained less than you think.

The morning of my BA I weighed in at 135 & that night at home, I weighed 145. I felt like I was 6 months pregnant! I was horrified! At my 1 week appt, I also told my PS about the weight gain. He told me that I should look for a drop of atleast 7 lbs within a month. (Boobies weighed a total of 3.5 lbs) It has been hard to loose b/c of not being able to do my regular workout routines, walking, and then my Dad passed away on June 2nd. I have been in just a depression mode. I am trying to up my activities to get past it all.
