Unhappy Scared of Infection :(

I'm so scared of getting an infection. I am not putting creams or anything on it, haven't gone in a body of water...but still scared!

What else can I do to avoid it?

I am scared that leaving the tape wet after a shower will help cause an infection...or washing my hair and having the water run over the tape.

what about sweat? I went back to work today, and I work in a kitchen and it was quite warm and humid today. I was sweating lightly on the tight parts of the bra, which includes directly over the incisions (crease). Does sweat harbor bad bacteria where I can get an infection from it?

I am on day 5 post op and my incisions are starting to feel irritated, itchy, and more sore. Ugh...scared!! When will I be in the clear from infection????

Danoooooo - All of the things you're doing, keeping the tape on it, sweating with the tape on it - it is all fine. The wound is totally closed - the tape on it is to keep the pressure off the incision, more as incision support. You will have some stitches poke through from time to time, but the wound is totally closed.

Did your PS send you home with any surgical tape? Because if he/she did, you can take the tape off, check the incision for redness, and if it's not red/irritated, just put a fresh tape on there. But you don't want to change it too much because it can hurt.

It's normal for the incision to feel itchy at a certain point also. So basically, I can completely understand your fear, but unless you're having other symptoms like tender to the touch, etc., you are fine!

PS told me never to take off tape, so I'll just wait it out...and if you thinking wetness is okay, I will trust you.

My boobs and incision are tender to touch, but it is only day 5

hi, Look i dont mean to alarm you in anyway, but just listen to yourself ..if you believe something does not feel right act upon your instincts, my infection to the wound kicked in after about 2 weeks & carried on for 3 months - the finer details are really yuck and I dont want to scare you or potentially put any bad thoughts in your head, basically the first sign of infection for me though was a yuck smell, I showered like 4 times a day (which is almost illegal here in Australia with our lack of water!!) and I could still smell it, no-one else was able to, I went to the PS & he changed over the tape, it got continually worse & a week later I began a course of antibitotics that did absolutely nothing - as it turned out, it was a staph infection on the implants itself & now has been removed, I get her put back in JULY!! cant wait, thinking I might go bigger whilst doing it all again..
