What day were you able to...

Recovered ladies, I have a couple of questions:

Here goes. So I scheduled my surgery on a Thursday. But I have 2 obligations.

1) To take an essay exam on the following Monday

2) To fly (domestic, and be able to drive at my destination) by the next Friday

Think I'll be okay? The pain doesn't worry me, but the idea I might be interfering with the healing process does.

Hi

Neither of those sound like a good idea to me. I was in pain for3-4 days and could barely get around, plus trying to concentrate on an essay. The flight would make me nervous too, but everyone is different so get some more opinions, goodluck

I would reschedule something

I had a really great experience, and even I had things happen unexpectedly. I had overs, so had a quick rebound, but on day 4 or 5 the incisions REALLY started to sting--like the nerves woke up.

My PS wouldn't let me drive until day 6--risky, or something. Plus it hurts to reach that far and turn, truthfully.

You've put so much money and time and thought into this, that maybe you should reschedule something rather than risk serious health issues over it. You don't need test stress going into the BA!

JMHO. HTHs....

Not worth the risk! You've spent all that money and don't want to risk not just the essay or travel but the people who are not under your control around you in these circumstances. Getting bumped would be a disaster. Aside from the pain, you are TIRED. Your body is in healing mode and I would guess thinking for an exam and just emotionally keeping up with travel would lead to overwhelm.

Yes, you could do it I suppose--but so not a good idea. Reschedule if you must. Plan for a time when you have a few weeks or nothing.

Cool

Ok, just talked to the nurse, who talked to the PS.

They said that as long as I'm not doing heavy lifting, or driving a long distance, I should be fine. At my consult, he put 8 days as the mark where I'd be able to do anything (aside from exercise.) I'll still have stitches, but whatever.

But since you guys have actually been there, I think I'll make other transportation arrangements and ask if I can take the test on a different day.
THANKS!!!

I asked my PS at the consultation about flying and he said it wasn't a really good idea due to the air pressure change.

If I were you, I would push back the surgery or your test!! I had 4 days of solid rest, starting yesterday I had to somewhat keep up with my two kids ( I barley did anything!) and I was emotionally and physically exhausted. I can tell you that your body takes all of your energy and uses it to repair. By 7pm I am a emotional wreck and I am ready to sleep for the night. I am not a overly hormonal person, so I am freaking myself out...big time! I can barley pick up a magazine and read it much less study for a exam. Not to scare you...JMO.

I agree with postponing the test
I was still quite uncomfortable 4 days post op and taking pain meds...
