Absolutely nothing over 10lbs for 6 weeks. I know how hard it is when you have kids because I have 3 but my husband helped out as much as possible. I have overs. Listen to what the doctor tells you, his is advice is all that matters really.

I had unders. For the first 3 weeks I wasn't supposed to lift my elbows above my shoulders. That sure made hair washing quite an interesting endeavor, and I think I cheated a bit once or twice (shhhhh!). I was cleared to do anything except high impact activities at 6 weeks, and at 8 weeks my ps said I could sky dive or bungee jump (which I do not do, but my ps can be kind of a goof sometimes....love that).

My ps said no lifting more than 10lbs for 2 weeks, then I can lift my daughter if I squat down and use my lower body to lift.

I had overs. My ps said no lifting anything for 2 weeks. Things like a glass of water was ok. He also said no stretching above head height.

My PS allowed my to pick up my 2 year old VERY CAREFULLY on day 4/5. I did and all was okay. However, I mentioned this to the nurse at my PS office and she said I needed to wait at least 2 weeks. I am sure he usually says 2 weeks and do not know why he allowed me to at 4/5 days. I do not that it was day four and I was cautious, picked him up carefully and when I felt I could not or was unsure, did not and do not. I am day 11 and the stitches were taken out and no steri strips YESTERDAY and I am less sure of picking up now than I was before. The steri strips offered my some since of comfort. Follow whatever your PS says. Talk to him about these things at you consult.

I go in tomorrow for my 1st post-op, so I will ask more questions! This is driving me nuts but I am half way there.
