neosporin...? What do you think?
I ha my strips removed today (disovable stitches) there is one little place that has not fully healed yet and is red. Would it be OK to put neosporin on it?

Logically that makes perfect sense. I have the same thing where mine were removed today and I was thinking same thing. Of course I decided to wait until tomorrow. I figure they were under tape so maybe a day of freedom will give the small spot a chance to catch up. GL

My ps actually instructed me to put neosporin on my incisions. So, I think it's ok.

I have been putting neosporin since yesterday(14days post). My ps said he doesn't know if it will help but I could if I wanted to. He also said the same thing about mederma.
btw, you look HOT in your pink dress.

I used neosporin on my drain incisions after having the drains removed. My PS said to do this, but to not use it for more than 10 days. This is because it can actually have a negative effect on the wound (or something like that).

You want to make sure the incision is sealed. I started using it as 10 ish days post op. When the whole thing was 'scabbed'

My older sister is an assistant for a plastic surgeon in Florida and she said never to use Neosporin on a wound that required stiches, it will cause it to scar.

With surgical wounds it's typically better to stick to the clean and dry route until they are totally healed. This is especially true for the first few weeks. After 6-8 weeks scar treatments (bio oil or your treatment of choice) but prior to that it seems other stuff can irritate the incisions and you don't want that. Plus putting anything ointmenty (neosporin, etc) on new incisions can soften them and may increase the chance of it opening up, and you don't want that either. And it's true that neosporin tends to be frowned upon where stitches were. Triple antibiotic ointment is used in some cases but usually the clean and dry route, like I said.
Our bodies are pretty smart, often it's best to just let nature take its course. If you've got a bit that is still kind of raw I would clean it (But don't OVER-clean it) with antiseptic or hydrogen peroxide and let it be. Just my two pennies.

That's exactly what my PS instructed me to put on mine when it wasn't healing and was red/irritated looking - but also I was instructed to wear guaze over it to prevent my bra from rubbing and creating friction and to keep the neosporin in place and not on the clothes. I did this for about 4 days and stopped b/c it was so much improved! Good luck!
