I have been reading this forum for months now...counting down the days till it was actually my turn! well it finally came I got 420 cc saline implants under the muscle on 6/24 and I am feeling great! I was just wondering when is it ok to stop sleeping in an upright position, it is starting to drive me crazy! Also I live in Florida and being pale is just not working for me, when did all of you start laying out in the sun again??? I figure I have to at least wait till I get my stiches out, but Im going crazy here!!! Thanks for any advice you can give me and for all the advice I got ahead of time! This site has been so useful these past few days! so thanks to all of you!!!

Hi there, I slept upright until 2weeks post. I slowly got lower and lower and slept completely on my back 2weeks post. I'm not sure about the tanning and am curious to know what other ladies have to say. Hope the rest of your recovery goes smoothly~~

Different PS's have different instructions. Mine advised me to sleep on my back for a week. As far as the sun is concerned I would say you should try and limit exposure. The scars can be made worse with tanning. If you do I would cover the incision location with something. Not sure where your incision is specifically. Good Luck and I hope your recovery continues smoothly.

I didn't get any particular instructions about sleeping sitting up, it was just more comfortable for the first week. I'm still more comfortable on my back even though I'm usually a side/tummy sleeper. I would have the same advice for tanning, you definitely need to protect your incisions. Other than that you should probably ask your ps. Welcome to Boobieville!

my incisions are crease incisions and I would definitley cover them up as I wouldnt want the scarring to be any worse! but I will ask my ps the next time I see him, thanks for the replies!

I'm sleeping at an incline still, but I feel more comfortable. In terms of tanning, I would love to get a little color on my legs, but I'm paranoid about my incision!

We have the same surgery date.
![]() I too am tired of sleeping in a recliner. I must admit at this point I'm pretty much fully reclining the chair. My PS said a big reason he recommends sleeping upright in a recliner is because when you are in bed on your back and sleep, you can end up in weird positions. He has had patients two weeks post op pull something when asleep and in a strange position andf end up with a hematoma and /or bleeding and had to take them back to the OR. He tends yo ber on the conservative side which is find with me. This is a bg investment and I want to protect it!!! I have gotten into bed propped up by pillows to watch moviers with me bf but not to sleep. I always sleep in the recliner. Tonight I think I will fully recline it though.

I think I slept in the recliner for the first 5 days. Slept with lots of pillows in the bed for the next week. It was probably at least 2 weeks before I was even comfortable enough to try a different position and I still had to use a pillow for support.
As far as tanning...I don't think I asked my p/s, but I know I started tanning between my 2nd and 3rd week post-op due to a cruise I had scheduled 1 month after surgery. I didn't have any problems, but I would suggest talking to you p/s anyway.

I kept sleeping proped up, to help prevent morning boob and just in general any pain in the chest area. I think it helped. I'm on Day 21 and still sleep proped up (slightly, not as much like a few days after surgery) and I swear it's helping me drop faster!! hahaha I wanted to lay out in the sun for the last several days, but haven't, because I was afraid the sun would make me sweat and the sweat would get into my incision, so I avoided the sun, but at Day 21, it's time to tan my body! (even though I have a tan, it would be nice to just get so some sun on my body!!) Honestly, probably the longer you want for tanning, the better. Enjoy your new girls!

I went out in the sun about 5 days after BA with a tank top on and laid by the pool. PS told me to do this because I was so down and he thought it would make me feel better, and it kind of did.

My PS just told me to cover up the incision when I tan and that would be fine.
Happy recovery! I got my BA on June 11. |
